  • Sounds really good but quality of hardware

The bass looks beautiful and it sounds amazing. The neck feels very nice while sliding up and down the board, and it's fun to play. But with the price you pay for the bass, you figure they would put better quality hardware. The running pegs tend to bind (get really hard to turn) when you get close to being tuned. Almost feels like it's about to brake.

  • Wonderful bass, with a few QC flaws.

Sonically, this bass is up there with the USA MMs and even Spector basses. Fretwork is pretty good and doesn't feel bad. However, within only a week of owning. The output jack came loose (Not that big of a deal if you have a socket wrench) but still inconvenient. Also the G string tuning key's worm gear and wheel do not line up, making it impossible to tune back to G after a string change. If you get this fixed however, then you have yourself a truly stupendous bass.

I have been a loyal player of Ibanez guitars and basses for several decades. About a year or so ago, I bought my first Stingray. I was blown away by the sound. That purchase guaranteed I wanted to upscale. This Stingray is the most complete bass I've owned. Highly recommend!!!

  • Great First Bass, Won't Be My Last

I'm originally a keyboardist, and before buying this bass I compared it with a Fender jazz bass and I loved the warm fullnesss from the neck pickup. However, when playing the stingray I noticed that there was more versatility and punchiness, and that I could achieve different tones based on adjusting the EQ or by muting the strings and playing with my thumb. The rosewood fretboard gives this bass such a nice balanced tone. I used to have roundwounds on this for funk and slapping, but for the past couple of months I've been using flatwounds to dull the aggression and go for a more smoother r&b/jazz vibe--the punchiness is still there! Plus the poplar burl finish really stands out in a well-lit area.

The bass sounded great and played great. Unfortunately I had to return it because even though I paid for a new one they shipped a used one from a guitar center. The 2nd one I ordered came with a huge crack across the entire back around the edge and across the front. Won't use MF again more than likely. Their customer service department was incredibly helpful with both returns and super apologetic. Unfortunately I just can't trust their quality anymore.

  • I would buy this product again and again. Magnificent bass.
