Description

The StingRay Classic 5 RAY25CA bass guitar brings the iconic design and sound of the original StingRay into the modern era. Modeled after the vintage Music Man bass that shaped countless records, this Sterling by Music Man model packs the classic slab body shape and active 2-band preamp that made its predecessor famous. With an alnico humbucker and hard maple neck, it delivers the rich, balanced tone that defined a generation of bassists. Its slim, fast neck profile makes it ideal for today's technical players, while the lightweight nyatoh body provides hours of comfort on stage. Relive an era or discover the StingRay's magic for the first time with the Sterling by Music Man StingRay Classic 5-string bass guitar.

Shape Your Sound With a Vintage-Inspired Preamp

Just like the original, the StingRay Classic bass features a 2-band active preamp that lets you shape your tone with precision. The treble control brings out the snap and clarity in the alnico humbucker, while the bass control tightens up the low end. From vintage growl to modern punch, the preamp gives you the versatility to craft your signature sound. The active circuitry also boosts output, allowing you to cut through the mix. Dial in the perfect balance of lows and highs for everything from funk to rock.

Built on a Rock-Solid Foundation

The StingRay Classic 5 gets back to basics with a design focused on playability and tone. At the heart of it all is the hard maple neck and iconic Music Man headstock. With its slim, fast profile, the maple neck allows effortless movement up and down the fingerboard. The alnico humbucker provides balanced output across the frequency range, while the vintage bridge enhances sustain and resonance. Whether you're digging into the strings or grooving in the pocket, the StingRay Classic gives you the solid feel that musicians have relied on for decades.

Classic Design, Modern Playability

While it pays tribute to the original, the StingRay Classic 5 adds modern appointments for today's bassists. The contoured nyatoh body is lighter than classic ash and alder designs, making it comfortable for extended playing sessions. The neck has a slightly narrower 1.77" nut width along with a tighter fingerboard radius for fast riffing and runs. The smooth satin finish also facilitates speedy playing across the 21 medium-jumbo frets. From its looks to its playability, the StingRay Classic melds vintage vibe and contemporary performance.

I already had one of these, and bought it with the full intention of modding it with a better preamp. And I did just that, and it sounds great with the John East preamp in it. It's very heavy tho. But I saw the white with tortoise shell pickguard and thought it looked really good. So I bought it. Seems like two completely different models in terms of quality. Seems cheaply made..and the kicker was the volume knob kept turning and not doing anything. So I'm sending it back and I'm done with the cheaper line of Stingray basses. If it's your first bass, you might enjoy it, but beware of the quality and potential repairs you might be up against. Of course you can return it like me.
