Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

Retired pro (which is why I chose "experienced") here, in the D.C.-Baltimore OverpricedPlex. I bought this bass with the encouragement of a Berklee grad buddy who says his friend of his uses this one exclusively in his band--yup, for no kidding gigs. At about 1/4 of the price of the brand's flagship Jazz Bass, its design, attention to detail, solid and reliable controls--including a great set of tuners--is as close to a Fender American Standard J as you can get. Of course, the label snobs might have an issue with the "Squier" at the headstock, but if they want to pay an additional $700 or so for the Fender decal, let them be the greater fool. It's a Fender J-Bass in Squier drag; I've put it to the test, and it passes quite easily.

Beautiful finish, deep rich sound, slick neck, very solid chrome hardware. Feels more like a Fender than a Squier. Best purchase I've made in years.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

I bought this bass used at my local Guitar Center and I must say, it is simply fantastic. The used version I bought has Seymour Duncan jazz pickups installed so I can't say much about the tone of the stock pickups unfortunately. Honestly though, considering the price, I think it's definitely worth it to put Seymours in because the tone is just incredible.

The feel of this bass in one of the best things about it. It seriously feels like a Fender. The only issue I initially had was with the action. The neck was heavily boughed and the second octave of the D string was unplayable. Fortunately it was an easy fix; I did it myself.

I do greatly recommend this bass, it's simply fantastic for somebody who's just starting to play fretless (like me)!

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

The attractive price point for this bass encouraged me to purchase it as a back up instrument for small venue gigs in and around my winter vacation home in Arizona. Mostly because I did not want to transport from Canada and subject my existing Fender fretless jazz bass to the dry desert climate for 6 months. The Squier Vintage Modified fretless bass exceeded my expectations for fit, finish and overall smooth playability after initial set-up and upgrade to Chrome flatwound strings. Early days yet, but the bass has proven to be a joy to play and looks great with a bird's eye maple neck and book-matched body finish. Certainly encourage other bass players to give this model a test and not let the value price sway your judgement as it compares favourably to much higher cost instruments. After all, you don't play the logo.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

Nice instrument for the price you can't beat it, threw a set of flats on it and it sounds sweet, if your just checking out the fretless and want to get a feel for what it's like this is great instrument.
Not for the professional that is touring in a jazz band but nice to sit in your home studio and learn jaco lines.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

I've had this puppy for about 2 years now. As it came it was a solid bass but I just needed to have few of my touches done to it just for the purpose of getting my desired tone. So replaced electeonics on it for about 50$ and had a set of American deluxe pickups waiting for a new bass. Right now I wouldnt even cosider it if someone wanted to trade me for a Mexi version of fretless wich is by the way way over priced compared to this baby. You cant go wrong buying this bass period.

Anazing quality instrument, great vintage sound with a fretless twist. The finish is beautiful, too. The only con was that the action on the E string was a little low, but other than that this is an overall great bass, especially for the price.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz Bass:

I play bass to entertain myself nowadays. Wanted to learn how to play an electric fretless bass. It was on sale at a competitor of yours, played it, liked it, when to CG down the street and ordered one. There was a fret buzz on the E string like someone mentioned before, but it was an easy fix. Getting used to the Ebonal fret board isn't as hard as I thought. Good tone. Not sure I like the stock strings. Will they scratch up the fret board?

Love this Bass. Came setup perfectly. Intonation and truss rod were spot on right. Sounds and plays like a far more expensive instrument. Put a set of GHS brite/flats on it and it was killer.
