Out of the box, intonation, action, etc. was pretty off. I think they save money with the setup; everything works? Check, ship. I replaced tuners with locking tuners, and the pickups, and in doing so I also found that a couple of screws were slightly crooked, some saw dust/wood flakes (between the neck and the body, and even behind the pick guard, making it bow slightly), and the nut was cut pretty high. Most annoying were the fret wires; they had been leveled with some heavy grit sandpaper (presumably), leaving ingrained lines parallel to the strings. I had to sand with 600 grit before using steel wool to polish. HOWEVER, after adjusting for all of these things - couple of hours of TLC - the guitar is a beauty. The color is great, the actual hardware is good. Again, plan on setting it up (more than a quick tune up, but less than a whole fret job), and you'll be pretty impressed. Side note, back of the neck is sanded (not lacquered), feels nice.

In short, plan on spending the time (or paying someone to), and you'll have something different in the collection.

The guitar has a great feel and plays easily. However after changing the strings for the first time I noticed that the the bridge and saddle are both made of some kind of plastic material. Same goes for the tuning knobs and most the hardware. I ended spending $100 more dollars just to put a real bridge, saddle, and new hardware on the guitar. If you're a beginner, this guitar could work great for you. If you're looking to buy your first Tele, I would recommend saving the extra $300 and buy Fender. Be patient. Don't just pull the trigger because it looks good.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

After years of slacking I wanted to pick up the guitar again. It is very easy and fun to play. It was playable right out of the box and required very little set up. I also like the humbucker sound. The tuners are a little touchy, but it is an entry level guitar. This is a beautiful instrument and the colored head cap will make it a collector's item.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I was actually going to buy a different orange Telecaster, but I came across this one instead, and I instantly fell in love. Not only does this one cost the same, but the matching colors make it sooo much better. If I were to call Fender to custom make me a guitar, this would be EXACTLY what I'd tell them to make. It's perfect for me!

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I bought this guitar from guitar center and was very pleased with the fast delivery and "in store pickup". After one of their techs worked his magic on the action, this thing is a real joy to play, The neck smooth and buttery....no gluey coating hindering left hand movement. I hate to put it down. For the money you cant go wrong. The guitar center even did the set up at no charge.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

So, I ordered this guitar because I recently began to play again after a long hiatus. I have another electric and an acoustic, but really like the Telecaster style, and wanted to try one without breaking the bank. I'll start by saying that this guitar plays like a much more expensive one. The neck is smooth, the action feels great, and the strings it came with are actually very nice. I haven't set it up yet, but I'm sure that will only make it even better. Secondly, the guitar showed up in flawless condition. Not a chip, missed screw, space, ding, or scratch on it. It was packed very well, and I was pleased when I unpacked it.

Overall, this is a 5 star review because I feel that I received a product worth more than what I paid for it. It's a solid, nice looking piece of gear, and I'm glad I got it. I will update this if necessary, but I don't expect that I'll need to.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I LOVE the Affinity Teles. They are lightish, have great playability, and I can leave them on a stand while keeping my nice guitars in their cases. I bought this one in black, but the orange looks good. I just can't have anything in my house that is orange. I'm a UH Coog and we have a history with UT and well, yeah I just went with black. It's not a metallic black, unless it's some type of new metallic that is invisible to the naked eye. The pickups aren't great, but they aren't bad either. The rosewood neck is solid and this thing stays in tune for days. Seriously, it's insane how well it stays in tune. These are also from the Indonesian faculty and have the string through the body bridge, which most Affinity Squier Teles are manufactured in China, have a plain maple neck, and have a bridge design that is not string through.

This is a fun guitar that should sell for at least $100 more. It's a great deal.

The guitar arrived with a flawless set up. I rarely find a guitar at this price range with such low low action and absolutely no buzzing what so ever.

The neck is super straight and the guitar just feels and plays amazingly.

The only issue I found was that the headstock has a chip in it where the paint is. I probably won't return it. As I don't want to risk getting a guitar that is not as perfectly set up as the one I got.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

"O" for two! I bought this model and when it arrived it looked nice, except there was hardly a straight screw hole on the body. I took it to the local store and they replaced it. Store staff was professional and courteous. The new one arrived today, in a timely manner. Upon unboxing, I noted that the humbuckers were straight this time, and there wasn't an annoying glob of fret glue to be found. There was a chip in the finish where the neck meets the body (as if someone tried to insert the neck incorrectly). However, being that this is a cheaper model, I thought I'd take a chance on it. I took it home and commenced to set the intonation (after first checking the truss rod and the saddle height). It was upon going through the intonation process that I discovered the low E wouldn't intonate properly. Even with the saddle spring removed, and the screw making contact with the string, it was still sharp. Ack! Upon closer examination, I can see that the bridge is crooked - but in the wrong direction! I'm not about to cut the saddle screw shorter to make this junker. work. Very disappointed! Even though I purchased pro coverage, I'm now contemplating just returning the guitar and spending my money on a partscaster a friend of mine has for sale at a steal of a price (with everything ready to rock, as it has enjoyed a life on stage and I KNOW everything is set up properly). If you like improperly filed nuts and crooked parts, then this is the guitar for you... I bought it because I play slide and the humbuckers were ideal to me. Although intonation doesn't affect my slide playing, I intended to use this guitar for hybrid sliding, but who wants to play a boat anchor that won't play in tune? I'm of the opinion that if a guitar doesn't play right - it doesn't matter how pretty it looks sitting in the stand. Save yourself some trouble and look at some other teles instead!

Just recently picked up my Tele from GC after bing ordered. Not going to lie. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was due to the packaging or lack there of. I was very nervous when I picked it up and heard the guitar rattling around inside the box. I opened it up to find the guitar wrapped in foam...the usual...but the only thing covering the top and bottom of it were a couple pieces of folded cardboard. Expecting the worst...I took the foam off to reveal this glossy black beauty without a flaw. After taking a few minutes to look it over, the only little issue I have is the pot shafts for the volume and tone knobs are a bit rough. But other than that, what a great guitar for less than $200. The neck is comfortable, body not too heavy, the stock pickups sound great, no fret buzz, decent tuners and intonation was pretty good. I can't wait to start practicing on this Tele. Very happy about my purchase.

Killer look, but could be better.

I love the black hardware, matching headcap, and rosewood fretboard. I like the color choices: I have the black and am tempted to buy the orange as well. I would have preferred it in a matte/satin/worn finish, though. My least favorite parts are the pickups. They're weak, and I'm thinking on upgrading them with EMG HZs.
