So I already have a Bullet Strat. The one with all humbuckers. I wanted a good rhythm axe and I got that. It is the sunburst. It looks like a mean jungle cat and can growl and howl like one. The bridge pick up screams the High Frequencies pretty darn good for lead riffs. The fret bars were all smooth and the unfinished neck wood was very smooth and is now glassy and shiny from playing. Then Guitar Center has this Squire Bullet Strat sale, on my Birtthday, so the Mrs says,"You want another one?" So I got a sea foam green with standard Strat pick ups. I am so happy with it I may never play the one with humbuckers again. The sound is sweet, clean, and bright. When I rev up the volume it screams like Eric Clapton's $5,000.00 real live Strat. I only had to make the harmonic intonation perfect with my tuner. All the frets are smooth and clean, the hardware is perfect (and chromed out), the strings are actually decent, the color is so excellent I like to stare at it when not playing. Thank you Fender for this line of guitars at this great price!! I am ecstatic. Happy Birthday to me!

The Squier Bullet is a beginner's guitar that only an experienced guitarist should buy. If you already know how to play and know your way around setting up an instrument, tuning, and basic maintenance, this guitar is all right. If you don't, you will hate this guitar and sell it.

Pro's - Pickups sound super bright. Most veteran players think they sound too bright, but many will find them to sound better than more expensive pickups.
Electronics are cheap, but functional. I've used a bullet in a band setting many times and it sounded fine in the mix.
Neck is usable with some work. If you know how to adjust the truss rud and saddles, you will get a decent neck out of a bullet.
The guitar is light and fits most folks bodies well.

Cons:
You will get fret buzz all day on this thing unless you really know how to setup guitars.
The tuners are horrible. If you are really patient and have a good tuner, it is possible to get the guitar in tune, but it won't stay there. This is the worst part about a bullet.
You will likely have sharp edges on the fret ends. Be prepared to have to sand them off.

A Great Little Cheap Guitar

By Michael

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I'm really starting to like import guitars... I picked up a Squier Golden Bullet Strat a month or two ago on sale and it's a nice little rocker. I asked my girlfriend in California if she thought it'd look better with a white pearl or grey pearl pickguard and got her into my mania. She found a great little 'Shell' pickguard which she purchased and had shipped to me without my knowledge. It looks great, but it fits SSS Strats and my Golden Strat is an HSS so I thought I should buy a strat that it would fit. Candy Apple Red was made for it and it looks great for a '60's guitar. After a trip to have it set up, I'm really impressed by the sound. I don't really care for the pickup selector, but all three pickups have nice voices. They seem to get murky when you play them in pairs. While it was being set up, I had them block the tremolo. It holds tune much better without the bridge being free to wander. If they come out with a hard-tailed bullet I'll probably buy another one. The neck's smooth with good attention to the frets. No buzz and no burrs on the ends. The body's really light and balanced well, and the sustain's very good on the clean channel... I'm really impressed overall, and I've been playing for 50 years now. The only guitar I kinda wish I'd gotten to play is an Armstrong Lucite, and they weighed in at about 20 pounds. The two Squiers I've bought have both turned out to be much better than their price. I'd recommend anybody to pick up their favorite setup and put them in your line up. They function smoothly and would make great project platforms. Both Squiers are already routed for humbuckers at the neck and bridge, and I'm tempted to try a set of P90s... But first I think I'll try a Chinese Gretsch.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I'd been wanting to get a decent cheap guitar to really sit down and practice with. This really fit the bill. The neck feels great, it sounds good, it stays in tune well. It needed intonation set out of the box, but the action was set well. Got it on sale, with a gift card to boot, and is some of the best money I've spent on a guitar to this point.

Decent beginner guitar

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Squires are hit or miss with playability. My 13yr old was dead set on a Squire for her first electric guitar even though I tried to steer her toward other brands of beginning guitars. I've played squires before in my research and never really liked the action but the one I bought actually feels great and stays in tune surprisingly well. I've played Fender Strats that didn't feels as good as this Squire. It had some fret buzz off the rack but a quick truss rod adjustment was the remedy. My advice if considering a Squire is to be patient and try out a lot of them - one unsatisfactory Squire doesn't mean they are all the same.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I own 3 Squire Strats (I collect guitars-have many), a Deluxe, Affinity, and this Bullet. I'll compare the Affinity to the Bullet. They have the exact same strings (Fender 250L NPS .009-.042). They have different bridges and tuners. The bridges are similar but the Affinity's have a different shape. The affinity saddles are a concave U-shape whereas the Bullet are not U-shaped but level from top to bottom. The Affinity tuners are exactly like the Deluxe Squire and held in by one nut on the string side of the tuner. The Bullet look like vintage tuners (like on my Jimmy Vaughan Strat) except they have a domed cover that resembles a rooftop tapering in 4 directions. They are held in by two screws, diagonally placed on the tuner, on the backside of the neck. Both seem OK quality wise. Both necks have 21 frets and a rosewood fret board. The Deluxe has a maple neck and fret board. The Affinity has an Alder wood body and the Bullet a Basswood body (the Deluxe has a basswood body too). To the best of my knowledge both the Affinity and Bullet Strats have the same pickups (according to the Fender website). I bought my Bullet on sale to "Hot Rod." I love the Sea Foam green color. It's not a work or art, but looks very fiftyish. The finish was great with no flaws anywhere. I wanted to change the tuners, strings, pickguard and pickups, but that was before I played it? The pickups sound great (for the money!). I was very impressed with them. They aren't weak, in fact lean towards the "hot" side. Since this is a cheap guitar I played it through some cheap amps, a Fender Champion 40, and a Mustang I. I was really amazed at how good a guitar (and amp!) you can buy these days in the $100 to $200 range. Amazing. I will change the strings to some .010-046's and I'll probably put on a Fender "Mint" 3-ply pickguard. But for now I'm hesitant to change the tuners or pickups. I originally was going to put in some Fender "Texas Specials," but I'll hold off for now.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I bought this in Seafoam Green for my birthday last month. I have a set of Tex-Mex pickups that I was planning to drop into it when I got it, but I have not gotten around to it since the stock pickups sound GREAT. I used to have a Mexican Strat that I was not fond of and sold. I have been playing SG's lately, but this brought me back to the Fender platform. The neck is slim(slimmer than my '51) and fast. It feels light and cheap and there are quite a few imperfections if you look closely, but this thing sounds and feels fantastic. I have actually been playing it at least a half an hour a day and have not picked up another guitar since I got it. Plugged in, it snaps, spikes and bites. The neck pickup is especially good and instantly dials in Texas blues or RHCP types of sounds. Everything else sounds like a Strat should. Since it is SSS, it does not do hard rock or metal well, but it suits most of the styles that you are likely to play in a wide variety of situations. Chimes, bells, and quacks...it does them all well for a very low cost. Mine even stays in tune reasonably well.

Okay its a Squire. I do have a Fender Strat. But had to have this thing.......because of the sea foam color, it blew me away! After playing this thing I'm seriously thinking of getting a Squire Tele. Sure they are lower end than Fender, but works for me. Plus Squire has one in an awesome gunmetal color, a color I haven't found anywhere else.......used to look down on Squire's, no more, its stupid to be a guitar snob. Especially if you're on a budget............

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I bought this guitar for the tremolo, just wanted something cheap to play, I was surprised to find this is a nice very well-built guitar, The strings are very cheap, if you get this guitar get new strings, D'Addario are nice strings, the stock ones may work for cutting cheese and your fingertips but that's about it. The tuning machines are not smooth, but will work. And the edge of the Frets are rough, but easily fixed. I'd recommend this for anyone especially a beginner because the fretboard is easy to play very comfortable and the body of the guitar is very comfortable against your body, I play my squier guitar a lot more than my Les Paul because of the comfort, I've upgraded my guitar pickups, electronics and tuning machines, Bottom line, I'd say buy this guitar.

This Guitar is amazing!!!! I bought it for my 16th birthday this year and it was worth every penny. This was my first guitar, and I was nervous to start playing, since I used an old Harmony guitar from 1980-something with the same strings from 1980-something that made my fingers bleed. This guitar is an excellent beginners guitar, and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg for a guitar. Also great foe people who can't afford a Les Paul.

Picked one up at Guitar Center Tulsa 2 years ago, picked it off the wall. Imagine my surprise to find the action was perfect intonation was dead on and the finish was as good as I have seen on a Strat of any type
Frets were perfectly finished, tops and ends. Seafoam Green paint was perfect. After 2 years It still amazes me that it stays in tune from string change to string change, even through cold of winter. Stock pickups, it sounds like a Strat. Plays very easily, as good as any Strat I have ever had,( my first was a 1981 Walnut Strat, 5 others since then)... My other current one is a CAR American Special, The only differences are a thinner lighter body( measured body thickness is almost 1/4" thinner on the Squier)
and the hotter pickups on the CAR, This one is a keeper !!

Very solid foundation to work with. In my opinion, a very good practice guitar, and with a little bit of money. Could be a very good gigging guitar.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

This is a decent practice/starter guitar, but out of the box it needs some work to be playable. The nut slots were binding pretty badly, the frets felt very rough out of the box (this goes away after enough playing), and the neck relief needed to be adjusted from the factory for lower action. However, once all of that stuff is done, it plays pretty well. The neck is a nice shape and should work for most people. The sound isn't great from the pickups, but through a decent amp it sounds Stratty enough. The electronics are cheap, but work just fine. No idea how they'll hold up though.

The tuners and nut are the weakest part of this guitar, just very cheap quality. Down the line I will end up replacing both of them, but after that it'll be a nice practice guitar I can bang around and not have to worry about damaging. If you're buying this for a starting guitarist, take it somewhere for a pro setup if you can't do it yourself, otherwise playability will be severely impaired.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I have had several strats over the years and sold them over the years to pay bills and got this one to tide me over till I get a mia or mim stratocaster. Not as nice as a mia or mim but after a good setup a decent player.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster SSS Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

This guitar is great, it definitely does the job. I am currently teaching myself how to play and have had this guitar for a little over a week. It's fun to play and easy to hold, works perfectly for someone with small hands like me. The tone is great and the pickups are pretty good it also stays in tune really well even after using the whammy bar multiple times. The only issue I have is fret buzz on the 6th string when played open but hey overall it's a good guitar.

I have always wanted to play but never really gave it a chance. I am 64 now and have time to rock out and be the rock star I dreamed of being. Got this very cool looking and sounding guitar today and could not be happier! Better than I expected and easy to play. Swapped out the strings and this baby is ready to rock. Very good product. Great craftsmanship. The seafoam green is awesome. You will like it also!
