Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass Guitar:
I received my Squier Affinity Jazz Bass in LPB this past week. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality and feel of this bass. The neck is one of the better things about mine in particular. Very fast, no buzz, just from playing unplugged it had great response and tone from the body. A bit more 'alive' than the basswood body in my Classic Vibe Jazz bass (which is No Slouch!) Finger playing style, even slapping, this thing had Tone! Unplugged! Anyway, stock..? the pickups need orange drop caps to filter out some of the high end. I probably will put a set of Dimarzio DP149's in it and along with that a total rewiring (along with CTS push pull pots for my choice of tones- since the Dimarzio's support it)Overall a Great Bass and the Perfect platform for the modding musician.
Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass Guitar:
Bang for the buck you cant really go wrong with a Squier.
Out of the box,the play-ability was decent. The Burgandy Mist color looks fantastic.
And everything worked.
After a few youtube tutorials i was able to really dial this thing in by lowering the action and
setting the intonation. 5 star all day long.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass Guitar:
I've been playing guitar since I was 13 (I'm approaching 50 now) and wanted a bass to record demos and even finished tracks with. I bought this Squier J Bass based on the reviews and am so far really pleased -- maybe even amazed -- at the quality. This is a well-crafted instrument, with a nice neck, solid electronics, good tuners, a sweet finish, etc. About that finish: I chose "race green," hoping it was actually green and not like the color in the photo. Alas, it's silver. But the silver looks cool. Anyway, as for the bass, I've already recorded with it and am really pleased with the results. I've played a Fender American Jazz and P-Bass, and this one holds up. Like them, it has to be run through a compressor to get even volume from every note (some strings/frets produce more volume than others), but I think this is pretty common. Anyway, I'm really inspired by my Squier J Bass and might just look into a Squier guitar. Great value for the money!
Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass Guitar:
The bass looks nice, but it was unplayable out of the box. The neck was too straight and the strings were stupid low so it buzzed like a hornet's nest and otherwise sounded awful. Unfortunately, the some of the saddle adjustment screws were not long enough to get the proper string height as it looks like at least two different lengths were used randomly on this guitar. That along with a very deep slot in the nut for the D & G strings made for lots of work getting this thing ready. The truss rod was not especially responsive but it looks like its going to hold the proper relief. The fret ends are also not great, but that's not a surprise. What is a surprise is that the frets look a little low and small and flat for medium jumbos. This particular red bass also came with a white/black/white pickguard, not 3-ply white as listed. The race red paint is pretty sweet, bright and shiny solid red. Made in China, so you get what you get. If you have a chance to pick up one of these for a good price after a pro setup, do it. Otherwise, look to spend the price of the guitar again in setup and parts to get it working if you get a bad one.

This was my first ever bass (I now play on a Fender MIM), it was a fantastic starter bass. Sounded great, just definitely needed a few adjustments when I first got it. Perfect bass for a new player.
