Good drum set for the price. I haven't played drums in about 15 yrs so I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this set came with cymbals hats and throne which is great. Took me about 3 days of solid playing to tune them to where I felt really good about the sound for recording. I did replace the cymbals and hi hats and had to use some tone modifier rings. I'm pleased with it.

The SPL 5 Piece Unity Kit was a great start for me. The set includes everything a new drummer would need; cymbals, sticks, hardware, and of course the drums. I've been playing this set for about 7 months now and along those 7 months I encountered a few minor and major problems. First major problem was the cymbals. The cymbals that came with this set were absolute garbage, they are cheap brass cymbals that will crack and bend a few months into playing them. The hi-hats in particular were awful, they have cracks and bends in the them so bad I actually got cut by it. Not only are these cymbals low quality, they also may become a safety hazard for the owner. The crash/ride cymbal was ok, it is bent out of shape but hasn't cracked (yet). Next major problem is the drumsticks. The sticks are also low quality that will break very easily. Mine broke one week into playing them. Those were the two major problems I encountered, a minor problem I encountered was the fact that the drums had way too much reverb. This could easily be fixed by buying some moongel or dampeners, for the bass drum you can use a pillow if you don't want to buy a dampener. Those are really all the cons of this set now the pros of this set. The hardware included in this set is very good quality, great hardware to definitely keep. The heads are very good as well, the heads are Remo UK drum heads with the SPL logo on all of them. The snare has a white coated batter head and a clear resonance head. The tom heads have clear batter and resonance heads. The bass drum has a clear batter head and a black SPL logo resonance head. The kick pedal and pedal for the high hat are very responsive and I love it. Overall this set is very to learn drums or use for an at home practice set for pros.

Pros

Best Uses

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Unity 5-Piece Drum Set with Hardware, Cymbals and Throne:

This was my first Drum Kit, and i enjoyed using it; however after a few months of playing everyday, the hi-hat was just not able to hold up and obtained large cracks in it. It's a great kit for a starter, but the snare drum echoes a lot and needs some moon gel or some tissues to be taped on it to deaden the reverb. I have replaced the hi-hat and after about 3 months I am now replacing the heads because many of mine have broken. I am not sure if that is due to poor tuning and tightening, simply because of its cheap quality, or if that's normal. The toms sound pretty good though, and the assembly was pretty straight forward.
I also recommend getting your own sticks because the sticks provided break very easily.

Overall it's a great kit, and doesn't sound half bad, but it is definitely not a studio or even small venue quality kit, and would be best used by novices looking to practice on something at home or learn to play.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Unity 5-Piece Drum Set with Hardware, Cymbals and Throne:

The drums are fairly nice. Very good beginner drums. However I am not at all pleased with how long it took to receive these drums. I knew they would be on back order but sheesh. I ordered them in January and i received box 1 in April and I have yet to receive box 2 and it's now mid May. The least they could do is send it all at once and not tantalize the customer with the drums they can't yet play.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Unity 5-Piece Drum Set with Hardware, Cymbals and Throne:

This was a black friday purchase but I didn't open the boxes until Christmas eve. All was in good order and easy to put together. I was very happy with the quality of the drum set for a beginning drummer. I was also very happy with the help I received at the Dayton Mall Guitar Center. Thank you everyone, You made my grandson very happy and a Grandfather very grateful. Your my Music Store for good reason... Thank You.

I've been using these strings for at least 20 years. I play an old Takamine classical which still sounds great! I have been writing/recording with this guitar and find the strings very expressive, responsive, accurate and provide me with the tones I have come to expect from this particular brand. I especially like the 520 P1 set as the treble strings are plastic wound. Actually, I use only the G string from the treble strings. It tends to give me some very cool nuances when recording quiet or solo pieces. I think its the string chirp! I just now bought 3 more sets. You probably won't regret trying them........
