Overview

Bring the drummer right into your home with the BeatBuddy Mini—effortlessly insert fills, transition from verse to chorus, add accent hits, throw in drum breaks, and more, to create an unprecedented live drummer effect—all with the simple ease of a guitar pedal format. No programming is necessary. Just cue your drummer and start jamming.

Controlling the Beat
Start: Begin the song by tapping the pedal button. The song starts with an intro fill, just like a real drummer, and then goes to the first verse, which loops as long as you like.

Fills: If you want a fill, just tap the pedal button any time, and a fill will play, perfectly in time.

Transition: To transition to the chorus, hold the pedal button down for as long as you’d like the transition to last.

Chorus: When you’re ready to begin the chorus, let go of the pedal button. The chorus beat loops as long as you like. You can return to verse the same way you transitioned to chorus.

End: Whenever you want to end the song, double-tap the pedal button and the beat ends with an outro fill.

Selecting A Song
A green light indicates whether you are selecting Genre, Song, or Tempo, all of which you control with a single knob.

1. Choose one of BeatBuddy Mini’s 21 genres by rotating the knob. Select genre by pressing down on the knob like a button. The green light will advance from “Genre” to “Song”.

2. Twist the knob to scroll through the songs within that genre. Each song’s time signature and default tempo are displayed on the bottom row.

Changing Tempo: To change the tempo, press the knob again. The green light will advance from “Song” to “Tempo”. You can now adjust the tempo by rotating the knob.

Visual Metronome
BeatBuddy Mini plays time signatures ranging from ¾ to ⅞ and more. The Visual Metronome aids your timing by moving a bar to the beat. A 4/4 beat has a bar 1/4th the size of the screen, a 5/4 beat has a bar 1/5th the size of the screen and so on. This way, you know exactly where you are in the measure, when that fill will end, when that next song part will start, and so on, tightening your chops like never before.

Additional Control!
With the Official BeatBuddy Footswitch (our SKU# J18656), you can select genres and songs, hands-free, add accent hits and drop the beat anytime—creating a powerful, realistic live effect.

I really like this pedal. I use it to jam along to. The sounds are pretty realistic. I play it through a powered PA speaker. I would never use this through my guitar amp. Stupid in my opinion is that there is no off switch. The only way to turn off is to unplug it. Also there is NO battery option. You have to plug it in. One of the biggest issues I seem to have is that the two selection switches are controlled by pushing them down. I accidentally hit these when I punch the foot switch button. These knowbs are plastic and Im afraid they will be broken easily. So that's a bit of a drag. I have size 13 shoes so maybe if you have small feet it wont be as bad for you.

Don't waste your money on this. I was hard pressed to find songs in this machine that actually fit a classic country or rock song. All of the songs in this machine are "muddied up" with cymbals and snare pops that are to out of place to be used for a generic song. For 50.00 more get an Alesis SR16.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

Good unit but lacked information before I bought it. I thought from the FAQ that I could get a programmable foot switch, because the double tap to stop is awkward. Unfortunately it's not programmable with the mini. However, you can use its pause button for a go around, and stop it immediately without an outright. So now I actually can use it for live gigs.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

If you do not have a drummer - this is an easy to use substitute and much more varied than a metronome. Loads of beats built in and classified in generic headings (e.g. Techno, Blues) leading to the beats themselves (called songs in this machine) e.g. Blues 1 to Blues 5, each one a differing percussion line up. together with an appropriate A & B version coming off a fill some subtle, some definitive called verse and chorus in this machine. Hold switch down for a fill lead to change A to B, short switch for a running beat burst.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

This thing is so much fun! I've only had it for a few days, but it makes practicing guitar so much easier when you have a beat to go along. I plug it into the MP3 input on my amp using a 1/4" to 1/8" cable. The foot pedal lets you add accents and transitions in the rythm while you play. Lots of fun. It sounds good enough for playing out as a solo act.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

The coolest pedal ever, like having a drummer in your room. Plenty of options for beats. and tempo and styles. I did notice that running through my guitar amp the drums or guitar could cut out a bit. Did not have the same effect on my bass amp. I have a small cd stereo system with an aux. plug so I run my beat buddy through it. That way I can play my electrics or acoustics. Whatever I' in the mood for.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

Great little drummer. Run it thru a PA or acoustic amp for best sound. New model allows the intros to be disabled but not the outros which is a bummer, a workaround can be done with the pause pedal....which makes the accessory switch pedal a must, any non latching pedal will work. EZ to switch beats. I mounted mine to my Mic stand and use a YouTube hack for a remote switch. Works well for me.

Using the Beatbuddy mini through my Peavey bass amp (Schecter bass). Sounds better that I expected - really easy to use and has an online library to identify which programs to use for specific songs. Next best thing to a pet drummer.

Excellent picks for the money! Very comparable to the Dunlop Tortex standard picks. I use the .88mm and .60mm for heavy playing on my Ibanez 7 string and they last quite a while before getting too worn down. Highly recommended!

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy Mini:

I'm a total amateur (think kindergartener) musician, but have been a computer chip (semiconductor applications) engineer for over three decades, so understanding the underlying electronics is seldom an issue for me, no matter how challenged I am in creating pleasing sounds. Agree with all positive comments, HOWEVER somebody at Singularsound needs to be spanked for allowing a cheap NOISY wall cube to RUIN the sound quality output of my new beat buddy mini. Recognizing the familiar buzz of "sixty-cycle-hum" I switched out the crummy wall cube that was included and dug out my 1 Fulltone FPS-1 [a low-noise wall cube for audio apps such as my Fender mini amp, and now my beat buddy]. So add twenty bucks to the price of the BeatBuddy Mini IF YOU WANT CLEAN NOISE-FREE SOUND, hence only four stars.

I had tried out the Digitech Trio and was very disappointed in the performance and ease of use. So I gave the Beat buddy a try after returning the Trio. This is loaded with very professional beat tracks. Ive started search for patterns that go with my acoustic sets. Go ahead and get the optional foot with for symbol crashes and a stop feature. Im still learning this so Im sure there is more it does.
