Simmons

collapse expand iconDescription

The Simmons Titan 50 delivers great playing feel and stick rebound, a collection of powerful drum sounds, onboard effects, Bluetooth and MIDI connectivity, a USB output for recording to your favorite DAW and a free app that provides training tools and other custom features. Since the groundbreaking ’80s kits, Simmons has continued to innovate and evolve the technology, ergonomics and sounds of their electronic drums. The Titan 50 represents the pinnacle of performance for beginners and working professionals alike, and is available at an unbeatable value.

Simmons_Titan50_MeshPads

Perfect Pads

The Titan 50 provides a comfortable playing experience that mirrors that of banging away on an acoustic drum kit. This is a key advantage for beginners developing their drum strokes and technique, as well as for intermediates and professionals who play acoustic kits live, and then switch to an electronic kit for low-volume practicing at home. The Titan 50 starts with a large, dual-zone 10" mesh snare pad with rim shot detection that lets you adjust the head tension to your needs, and three 8" mesh toms with low-profile rims. All of the mesh heads are dual layer for durability and accurate feel (akin to conventional acoustic drum heads). The 6" kick pad offers enough impact space to work with both single and double pedals. The cymbal essentials are covered with 10" pads for hi-hats (with closed, mid and open sounds), a ride and a crash. If you’re looking to expand your percussive artistry with a larger kit, the optional Titan 50 expansion pack adds another crash cymbal pad and an 8" tom pad.

Simmons_Titan50_Rack

Rock-Solid Rack

Many rock drummers like to hit the drums hard—like John Bonham or Travis Barker hard. This isn’t typically a problem on acoustic kits, but on an electronic kit with the drum pads clamped to a round tube, power drummers can easily smack the pads off-kilter. In many cases, this can mean stopping your performance or practice session, and resetting the pads to their proper positions. Bummer. But this is a scenario you won’t have to worry about with the Titan 50. The pioneering steel, full-sized rack includes rectangular beams and adjustable clamps that prevent slippage and keep the pads set at their preferable positions—even under extreme pummeling. The rack allows ample space for the Titan 50 control module, and also includes a detachable tablet/mobile phone shelf to accommodate editing via the Simmons app.

Simmons_Titan50_SoundLibrary

All-New Sound Library

Simmons committed to making the Titan 50 not only the best-sounding electronic drum set the company has ever produced—quite a goal, considering the Simmons sound defined an entire era of percussion—but also to produce one of the premier sample libraries available anywhere. The all-new sounds in the Titan 50 were sampled from the ground up in a large commercial recording studio to ensure ultimate realism, sonic impact, natural ambiance and dynamic sensitivity. When you sit down to play on it, the drum sounds will make you feel as if you were recording tracks in the best studios in the world, or performing live with all the resonance and wallop of rocking through a superstar’s PA system. The totally re-engineered Titan 50 sample library includes 25 drum presets—as well as space for 10 user-constructed kits—and each selection offers near-effortless tweakability with EQ, reverb and compression. If you’re a player who is always on the hunt for different drum timbres, never fear—the Titan 50 offers downloadable Sound Packs that provide alternate ROM sets.

Simmons_Titan50_Connectivity

Comprehensive Connectivity

The Titan 50 gives players a bevy of input and output options for learning, practicing, recording and performing. Bluetooth audio capability lets you wirelessly stream your favorite music and play along with songs that will inspire you and help you upgrade your chops. There’s also a 1/8" stereo AUX input for your wired playback devices. For editing sounds, you can use the Simmons app, other compatible music and drum apps, or MIDI control. The Simmons app also includes play-along, practice and training tools. Laying down drums on recordings is a snap, as the onboard USB jack offers seamless connection to DAWs and other music software. A headphone output is provided for private practicing when others may not appreciate hearing your drum solo workouts, and a stereo line output lets you plug the Titan 50 into a sound system when you’re ready to rock gigs and rehearsals.

Simmons_Titan50_Practice

Electronic Euphoria

The Simmons Titan 50 is a wonderful, multi-use kit for drummers looking to practice “noiselessly” at home, record parts directly to a DAW, and plug into powered monitors or a complete PA system for playing at band rehearsals and live shows. But the affordable Titan 50 is also an excellent drum set for guitarists, bassists, keyboardists and multi-instrumentalists who want to create their own drum parts on recordings and songwriting sessions, or just "have a go" at percussive fun. The easy operation of the Titan 50 is designed to keep the focus on diving in and playing, rather than dealing with frustrating drum kit assemblies and arcane programming. The Titan 50 is an e-kit for everyone.

AWESOME new Kit from Simmons! Would certainly recommend it

This Titan 50 Kit from Simmons is a lower level kit but ... it really crushes it and checks all the boxes! This Kit is a BEAST! Im a steady gigging live and studio pro drummer and largely acoustic player. I use the electronic percussion mainly for recording and teaching in my home studio. Im now thinking I may use this kit on some of my live gigs. These sounds record like a BOSS and I especially like the KIK drums! The snare has a great rim shot and is very dynamically sensitive. The KIK pad is designed for a double pedal and works great! The hi hat is programmable and real accurate The cymbal pads are lightweight and super sensitive with a choke function too!.. Theres a very useful expansion kit add on that includes a tom pad, crash cymbal pad and cymbal arm. The kik pedal is lightweight but smooth and sturdy. FIRST The SOUNDS are just fantastic ... as one could expect from Simmons!... great sounding variety of 22 kits... including the classic iconic SD7 ... great other percussion type world kits for Latin, Brasil and India with wicked accurate sounds. Plus 10 user kits that are fully customized for your own combo of sounds. EXTREMELY sensitive triggering response on these mesh pads NO FLAMS or missed hits super sensitive response and dynamics. Easy to change/ edit the parameters of sensitivity volume etc as well. The PADS feel GREAT like a real drum and fully tension tunable. The Titan also has a series of on board songs that are play alongs where you can mute the onboard drums and play along with your chosen sounds as part of a great Mix /mute function that and allows for different styles and 7 programmable user songs Theres a cool "practice mode " that includes an onboard click track and tempo adjustments . The "set up " function toggles through all the editing parameters and EASY to use. There is a firmware update that is EASY to do and adds more dimensions to this already amazing Kit.. There is a bluetooth function which also super great with a headphone jack too. Theres also an audio input if you want to drop in with a tablet phone or computer audio... Also a very useful holder for your phone of pad that attaches to the sound module for ease. They also include clamps to bundle the cables along the rack to keep them from getting snagged. The rack mount itself is sturdy and light weight aluminum and easy to set up. My concern with this kit is the resilience of the hardware...cymbal arms clamps and tom mounts The adjustable angles are not as adjustable as I like...but OK... The clamps are light duty plastic... they work fine but are not heavy duty or road worthy.. this is great studio kit and live kit for small gigs..and very affordable. GO GET THIS ONE!! Thank you and Bravo Simmons you nailed it!

UPDATE to customer service issues with Simmons

The drums are great and I am playing a show with them again tonight. The last review I left discussed the quality of the drums and the brain... and the dreaded customer service. This is the update. So The day after I left the first review I got several emails from Simmons. Apparently they act only after you poorly review them. But, in their defense they also called me on the phone and said they were shipping out the replacement piece that day and they would overnight it to me. I felt relieved and satisfied. I get that companies can get it wrong every once in awhile and who doesn't make mistakes. I wish I didn't have to go all the way to writing negative reviews. The part came in and, I was floored. They sent the wrong part! After over a month of trying to get a single piece replaced, after sending receipts, and photos from different angles of the broken piece, they send me the wrong part. I am playing a show tonight with the kit. I love the sounds and its fun to play. But I had to get creative to make the wrong part work for this evening. Will they send me the right part eventually? Will they even answer their phone or respond to their emails? Will Simmons try to make this right for their customer? Time ( more time) will tell. I will keep everyone posted.

I bought this for a practice kit, it is fine to keep your hands in shape but the kick trigger, it says it can be used with double bass pedals, it doesn't seem to register every hit, I will have to upgrade the kick trigger!!

Does come with headphones. If you want to play out loud you need an amp. The kick is nice and good for beignners when getting a feel for tapping. The high hat pedal is a bit if-y. You need a lot of presure ro maintain a closed. Would be nice if there was a setting to set to closed.

I recently purchased the Titan 50 Electronic Drum from the Cherry Avenue store in San Jose. Initially, I was excited about my new purchase, but upon setting it up, I discovered the product needed to be fixed. Naturally, I was disappointed and concerned about the hassle that might follow. However, the exceptional customer service at the Cherry Avenue store turned my experience around. The staff there were not just understanding but promptly assisted me in finding a replacement. They informed me that the product was available at their Stevens Creek location. Upon visiting the Stevens Creek store, I received the same outstanding service. The staff there were well-informed and helped me exchange the defective product without issues. I am now enjoying my new Titan 50 Electronic Drum, which works perfectly.

I'm a beginner drum player and I got this kit over a year ago. The moment I took it out of the box to set it up, the connected that holds the snare frame to the rest of the kit broke. That's the first downside. If I take something out of the box and it's immediately broken in half, I do not like it. I've been using it since then and it's only gotten worse. It doesn't stand up straight at all now and I can't hit my snare, high hat, or crash cymbal without it falling over. There is only one sensitive tom and it's the first rack tom. That's the only one I can rely on to make a good sound in my ear. The kick pedal isn't secure at all and likes to move a lot (this can be solved by putting it on a carpet because there's Velcro). On the good side, it has good presets, and is fairly easy to set up. It isn't inherently a bad set in my opinion despite my critiques, I just don't think it should be used by anyone who would really like to get amazing at drums. I have tried other Titan variations and they work much better. If you are on a budget than I recommend this but that's about all.

The product is great except for the fact that the hardwear is cheap plastic and is dressy easy to break.

How easy is this to 'tuck away' after each use? I don't plan on keeping it set up all the time. I've seen images of other e-drum sets that have the toms fold down for easy storage. Is that easy to do with this?

It's not easy. The toms are attached by a clamp. The rack doesn't fold.
