Good Value For A Basic E-Kit Setup
I'm a drummer for 50+ years and wanted to get a small set for grandkids to use when they visit instead of bashing away on my Ludwigs. At the Black Friday special price this set fits the bill nicely. A good size with several kits to choose from, preloaded practice songs, metronome, and each pad customizable individually. It arrived today and took much longer to set up than it should have, mainly because the rack (which comes partly connected) is not actually connected as detailed in the instructions. So first I had to figure out which pipes, legs and clamps were needed where and work backward from there. After getting the rack configured as it should have been, the rest was a breeze. Overall 28" deep x 44" wide x 36" high without the throne. I've set everything pretty low for the grands but could also raise it more for my own use...I could see using it for practice myself although not likely for actual performance. I doubt it would stand up to much travel or actual performance intensity. Everything seems to work other than I can't get much volume out of the kick pedal - hopefully this is something I can address with Customer Service for better balance. I like a lot of oomph on the downbeat! Also have not been able to play songs from my phone via Bluetooth - the module indicates it's connected but no sound. The two pedals (kick and hi-hat) are large so hopefully a smaller foot can operate them easily. Everything seems customizable via the control module so that will be something I'm learning between now and Christmas for the big reveal. The rack and clamps are plenty sturdy do don't be too concerned with comments about flimsy junk clamps. Just use a light touch when assembling - there's not much weight to the pads anyhow so unless your're planning on jumping off them into the mosh pit it should be okay. No tools required, everything adjusts with the enclosed drum key. All you'll need is a stool/throne and some cheap headphones and they're ready to rock. I'm not a huge fan of electronic percussion but have to say for what I needed these are just about right assuming I can get the bugs worked out.

I would not buy this again
Overall I like the kit and is good value for the price. However the brackets that hold the drum pads and cymbals in place are very brittle and break easily when making adjustments. You cannot buy these anywhere and Simmons is not being helpful to replace them. Customer service responded when I inquired on their website, but has since then gone quiet. Guitar center says it's not their problem and are unable to help. I'm hopeful I'll get a response soon and get this issue resolved.

The product though expensive, is built like it was meant for children under the age of 5. The kit is very flimsy and pieces kept breaking all around the kit. Would recommend this kit for anyone with any type of motor skill issues as you cannot be too rough with it.
Great starter kit, and for several scenarios

Small place? on a budget? Looking for something to not get rusty? Beginner? Whatever is the situation this kit will work. Get some time for the hardware setup and the volume and sounds; once you are ready, is just fun and practice. Want to practice with friends or a gig? Could work, but, let's make a bigger investment!

Are drumsticks included, and if not what kind of drumsticks should I buy to work with this? Sorry I know nothing about electronic drums.
No, they aren't. Do you play now? What sticks do you use? Do you play heavy or light? There are no specific sticks for electric drums.submitted5 months ago
