Comments about Shure GLX-D Guitar Wireless System with GLXD4 Wireless Receiver:

Given the price point of the GLXD system, I was assuming that I was buying another PGXD system with a better information display and rechargable battery system. Needless to say, I greatly underestimated the GLXD's capabilities. The build quality of the transmitter and receiver are miles above the PGXD components. I actually prefer the toggle style power switch on the transmitter instead of the common push button. I love the signal level meter and ability to adjust transmitter gain from the receiver. As far as audio quality goes, it doesn't completely match a good cable tone, but it's really close. The main difference I've noticed about the GLXD compared to the other units in this price range is that it preserves the tonal differences between guitars.

i have my GLXD receiver rackmounted in a URT2 tray. The inst output feeds my TC G system and the mic output feeds a Korg DTR1000 tuner. This is a nice option as it keeps the Korg's buffer out of my main signal chain.

Comments about Shure GLX-D Guitar Wireless System with GLXD4 Wireless Receiver:

Better build than previous plastic body packs. We have far fewer dropouts with the antennas in this model. We have 2 of them and are very happy with them.

Comments about Shure GLX-D Guitar Wireless System with GLXD4 Wireless Receiver:

While I can't speak to the long-term durability or battery life, I can say that I'm more than happy with it so far. The sound quality is great. As for distance, I can go to any floor in my house and stay connected. Playing out, I've only been close to the receiver, but had no interference or other issues. On one battery charge, I played a 4 hour gig, two-hour rehearsal out, and hours of rehearsal at home, so the battery life really is roughly 16 hours, at least initially. So far I fully recommend this.

Comments about Shure GLX-D Guitar Wireless System with GLXD4 Wireless Receiver:

The GLXD4 is a very smart purchase. I just upgraded my wireless system with this unit and the transmitter that goes with it. I chose to install it on my pedalboard, even though it's designed to go into a rack system. I didn't go for the smaller tuner/receiver unit as I really like the battery charger on the unit and it gives me a read out in hours and minutes on how much time I have left on my transmitter. It's powered by my Voodoo 4X4 power supply and just needed the power inverter cable to give it power. The guitars sound is so close if not right on to a cable. On the transmitter, I did upgrade the cable to a Mogami version and will keep the cable that came with the unit as a spare while I get the Mogami replaced (for free). If you are looking for a great wireless system and it doesn't break your bank, this is the choice.
