Comments about Sennheiser XSW 52-A Wireless Headmic Set:
I purchased 8 of these mics to replace a unit that was an all inclusive 8 mics in one unit. That 8 in 1 was a big mistake. I have not had any problem finding a frequency with these XSW-52 mics that I could use without interference. They link to the transmitter automatically with the sync feature. My sound board is about 80 feet from the mics and there is excellent sound quality and I have not experenced any drop-out. The sound is a little bassy, but is easily corrected with th EQ and repositioning the mic distance from the mouth. For the money these were a very good solution to an unacceptable problem.
Comments about Sennheiser XSW 52-A Wireless Headmic Set:
I bought 10 of these as part of a sound system upgrade for a high school. They worked great once the kids got them out from under their noses and we learned a few other things. First, I'd suggest pulling the mute button out and covering the hole with gaffers tape. The button is soft rubber and comes in and out easily. We also taped over all the other controls. They are way to easy to hit when you are burring the body pack in a costume. The only real problem we had was that one of the belt clips broke off. I don't know what caused that -- maybe horseplay back stage. What really surprised me was that there is no way for a user to replace the clip. It's installed from the inside and you'd have to remove all the guts from the unit. The problem there is that after puling a few screws, you need to start unsoldering. Yuck!!!! I called the support number at Sennheiser and was blown away when I got to talk to a real person who knew what they were talking about. The next surprise was that he didn't care how it got broke. It was under warranty so it was covered. I printed of a prepaid UPS shipping label they provided, boxed it up and dropped it at a UPS pickup. A couple of days later, I got an email saying they had received the unit. A couple of more days and I got another email with the return shipping tracking number. A couple more days and it's sitting at my door. Now that's service! Now I just hope that I just had a weak clip and this isn't a sign of things to come.
