The left-handed Seagull Original S6 is an acoustic guitar that boasts a super comfortable slim neck and a solid cedar top. And as with all Seagull guitars, the finish on the left-handed S6 dreadnought is thin enough to allow your tonewood to naturally age, getting better and better over time.

acoustic guitar for the Strat player

By Joe Prisco

Comments about Seagull The Original S6 Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my first Seagull s6 when I didn't know anything about guitars, but I was told this was a good guitar for those used to electrics. The neck profile is in fact rather slim, feeling very much like a Strat as opposed to a Gibson. Comparing it to the Yamaha loaner I'd been borrowing, it was also a touch wider in the string spacing, just enough for clean arpeggios of end-of-neck barre chords like C without any accidental muting. As for tone, it was unanimously preferred among my guitar-playing friends. The review guidelines suggest I also talk about the look, and the s6 I bought came with a very light satin finish; several years of heavy play and no maintenance took its toll. If I had it to do over again, I would have been more careful about keeping it clean. As I understand it, the LaPatrie philosophy is to offer quality without the expensive frills, therefore competing with more expensive guitars for tone but not decorations. So there's little in terms of binding, and the fret markers are simple dots. Structurally, mine has survived several near-death experiences (having a bass amp tip over onto it, etc) without losing any of its tonal quality. In a world where seemingly everyone gets Fenders or Yamahas, Taylors or Martins, I appreciate having a quality guitar that doesn't look like victorian furniture or cost as much as a car. The only reason I think to replace it now is for appearances; if it were stolen and I was offered free choice of any guitar under $1000 as replacement, I'd get another s6 and clean it more regularly :)

Comments about Seagull The Original S6 Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased the s6 shortly after I got an s12. I am a lefty and for the price, the seagull is a great value. Both have the q1 electronics which works well but they sound fantastic without an amp. The s6 has a gorgeous wood pattern on the sides and back. It;s the same wildcherry with cedar top but the s6 is just gorgeous. It frets very well and the neck has very good action,

Comments about Seagull The Original S6 Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this as open box item and got a great deal from Guitar Center, BUT that is not why I like my new guitar. Now that I have my S6 in my hands I think I'm in love. The sound is awesome. The finish is awesome. Every review I read was 5 star. Read up on Seagull website about their company and story. You should as well. The guys at guitar center also had great things to say about the Seagull. I try to not live in regret, but good things come when they come, but boy I wished I had bought this years ago. LOL. A lot of reviews talked about the new slim design neck on S6 and that there could be issues with people with small hands with the Original S6. Im 5 10" 170 and have smaller to average size hand. The S6 Original (not slim neck) is what I have and it's seems just fine. In fact this back and forth in my head about weather to get slim vs Original S6 neck lead me to read a ton of reviews. One person said they were 5 2" and had small hands and had no issues with Original 6, so I went with that review. Just saying if anyone is hung up on this decision. This is a great fit for me. Good luck guys and gals.

Comments about Seagull The Original S6 Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my S6 in 1985, and have never gotten rid of it, despite many instruments passing through my hands since then. I just bought one for my lefty teenager, and am very happy to see that they're still paying attention to build quality, and still using lovely materials. You can't possibly get a better guitar for the money. For a younger player who's moving up from their starter guitar, or for anyone not looking for an upper echelon instrument, I highly recommend Seagull.
