Awesome Bass

By Punkee

from Illnois

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

This is a great bass. The quality is good and the sound and tone is amazing. I play it on a line 6 LD15 amp and it just sounds amazing. I've been playing guitar for a year and a half and decided to take up bass. This was a great start. There are three tone knobs and you can adjust it to you taste. If you're trying to get a punk like sound, get this bass now.

Stiletto Extreme

By GBiss

from Springfield, VA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

This is my second Schecter Stiletto, purchased my previous one from GC 8 years ago! It's such a great bass for the price I had to have another one. Well constructed body and neck joint. 6 bolt neck is exceptionally sturdy. Lightweight and ergonomical body shape. The finish is specatular, the figured wood top is gorgeous. Fretboard inlays and binding edges are smooth, no flaws. Factory set action is good but there is still fretbuzz. As expected at this price point, the fretboard could use more detailed finishing, but additional setup adjustments will reduce buzz. Two of the tuners feel mushy, this may cause tuning instabilities later on. My previous Stiletto didn't have any problems with the tuners so results may vary. Pickups and electronics are mellow, dull sounding, and slightly noisy, recommend aftermarket upgrades. Due to the body wood and pickups this bass naturally has a mid scooped tone. I find this great for slap style and rock n roll. I highly recommend anything Schecter makes, their quality per value is unmatched.

Speachless...well sorta XD

By Dylan

from Deltona, Florida

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

I got this bass a few days ago and all I can say is wow. This instrument isn't all about looks, it has a bite (in a good way). Nice thin neck, the bass itself seems very sturdy. IT CAN PLAY ANYTHING!The hardware is good but I'll probably replace the pickups, but thats just because I like to use EMGs. Really all thats left to do is choose fingers or pick (it plays wonderfully both ways). This bass is just as good as a Fender Jazz at about half the cost *versatility*. You won't be let down.

simply amazing

By robby

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

this is the best bass i have ever played. EVER!! i own the red version and its just stunning how beautiful the bass is. extremely versatile, i use it for everything from jazz, to metal, to praise team at my church. it works for everything!! i highly recommend putting strap-locks on it though, the strap button at the bridge area is in a weird spot so the strap slips off easily. and the stock strings are terrible, i use ernie ball regular slinky's and they improved the sound immensly. other than that its an amazing bass.

My first bass

By Izzy

from Dallas

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

So I usually play keyboards and rhythm guitar for my band, but I decided I want a new project with me playing bass. Since Schecters are known for their dark and heavy sound, I wanted to try it myself. And what can I say, this bass has the most amazing tone ever, and your fingers move brilliantly up and down the fingerboard. The inlays are sweet, and the body is very sleek. The one thing I recommend you get with this bass is a really nice bass amp. That way you can truly unleash this bass's potential. I love the price of this thing, and I can see myself going very far with this bass.

Perfection.

By Jeremy

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

This was my first bass ever. I've had it for about 2 years now and it's treated me very well. It lasts, it sounds awesome, and I'm just in love with it. I REALLY recommend this to anyone who might be starting off to play, and to those who are very expirienced players. Seriously, this thing is perfection. There really isn't anything else like it.

Love this bass. It is my 4th one and my favorite to play. I have an Ibanez 1400 that I paid twice as much for and it doesn't have the sound or speed of this guitar. It's versatile with a thin neck and comes with Ernie Ball super slinkys my favorite string.

      Excellent Bass for the price!

      By Eric Ness

      from Baltimore, Maryland

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

Let me start off by saying that I don't play bass. When my wife decided the rest of the family was having too much fun playing guitar, she decided to take up the bass. I've been down the road with starter equipment, and didn't want to go too low-end, but didn't want to over-spend either. This bass perfectly fit that need. If you're looking for a quality instrument and you don't want to break the bank to get there, this is it. You will not be disappointed. The tone is rock/hard rock, though th EQ gives a wide range of control, especially when combined with a good amp. This covers from relatively clean to very crunchy, though rock tones are its sweet spot. I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and the finish on this instrument. The pickups are great, the controls are smooth and clear. This has the look and feel of an instrument that could cost twice the price. The neck is thin, the action is low, and straight out of the box comfortable without having to tweak any string buzz out of it. Thre balance is decent, though as another reviewer pointed out, you might want to invest in strap locks. We've not had an issue with this, but I can see what that reviewer meant with regard to the pin placement on the bridge end. Having built guitars, I take a close look at how what I buy is put together, and where the shortcuts may have been made with components. I can't find anything at all to complain about with this bass. It is a tremendous value for the price and far exceeds the beginner instruments I've looked at with regard to quality of workmanship and components.

I stopped playing a few years ago and had a Samick and a Cort both 4 strings and this guitar by far kicks both their butts. I put D'Addario nickel wound strings 45-105 and it sounds great i will buy nothing but Schecter

      Wonderful bass

      By Anthony Skalas

      from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

This was my first bass. Everyone always gets a strong connection to their first instrument, but after 2 and a half years of owning it, it continues to amaze me every time I pick it up. With 24 frets, options are pretty much limitless, and the Schecter humbuckers that come with it haven't been replaced yet. This baby can handle low tunings very well, and I mean LOW. I've brought her down to Drop A a few times without sacrificing very much tone. The only concerns I have is that first, REPLACE THE STOCK STRINGS. They lost their punch after about a month. I'd recommend putting some low-gauge Elixr strings on there (That is, if you like the same punchy tone I do.) Also, the input on the bass tends to unscrew itself and come loose from time to time, but that only started happening after a year or so of owning it, and it's probably because I haven't tightened it good enough yet. Also, if you like a more classic sound, I wouldn't recommend this bass. It has a very bass-y low end, and the EQ sounds a little odd if you aren't playing anything Hard Rock or heavier. However, if you're playing in a metal band, this is the bass for you. The crunchy metal tone you can get out of it is unbelievable. All in all, I'd give the bass a 4/5, just because of a few minor issues and because the finish doesn't really stay too "new" looking.

      Great Bass

      By Ralph Zittkowski

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

While not being an expert on this subject, I have had a Peavey foundation Bass for the last 20 years or so and decided it was time to crawl out of my hole and try something new. All I can say is I'm glad I did. Compared to the Peavey (which I know is a little different) i would say this axe is much more enjoyable to play.it sounds great, and is comfortable to hold too. I went to Guitar center and played about 12 different Bass' and this one got my vote. Very reasonably priced guitar and I think is well worth it.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

This bass is the third bass iv'e ever owned. I was skeptical at first due to not hearing of the name "Schecter". I absolutely loved the finish and the inlays so I purchased it. Turns out this was a great purchase and a great sounding bass. My only complaint is that the pickups are pretty high up, leaving a small amount of fret buzz on the 1st String.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

I own several Schecter guitars but this was my first bass. My daughter got a bass for her bday and I wanted to try something new so I got myself the Stiletto Extreme 4. I loved the way it felt! It's slim body made the transition from guitar to bass even easier. It just felt right. The tone is great for the cost! You could upgrade to EMG's but the Schecter factory pickups are honestly fine. I would happily buy this again. It took me no time to start dropping basslines thanks to all the available online tutorials. I wish I'd have picked up bass years ago! It is so much fun to rumble the floors! Make sure to pair it with a good bass amp! I've got the Fender Rumble 40 and love it. My only regret is I should've bought it in the 100W option...

I am pretty new to playing bass, so my review is based off what my friends who have been in bands for years are saying. It is a super easy bass to play, that's my opinion. The sound quality is fantastic, it is very rock orientated. The finish on it was perfect, no cosmetic issues what so ever. In my opinion a great bass for anyone.

Found this guitar originally in San Jose store- picked it and was GREAT- while playing- died. I then informed the Guitar Associate and gave HIM MY #. DAYS PASSED no call. Anderson finally helped me and he strove to find the missing bass. 4 days now passed. No call back. then on teh 5th day I FINALLY got a manager- they could not find it either- even though their inventory showed it. I walk into the store the following Monday- entered the Bass section- it was sitting right there on the floor! Still un repaired! Thus this special order.
