Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar Satin Crimson Red Burst
Description
The Hellraiser Extreme-4 has a multi-laminate maple and walnut neck. It's made from 3 pieces of maple and 2 center strips of walnut. This well balanced combination of select wood takes the bright tones of maple and adds a dark tone from the walnut strips. It's often used for Thru neck construction, giving the acoustic tone of the instrument a perfect string vibration transfer to the body. The ebony fingerboard has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of Maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than Maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long sustain.
Inside the Hellraiser Extreme-4 are both single and dual-coil EMG 35TW pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is a new version of the J pickup built in the CS (ceramic and steel). The dual-coil mode is the popular CS dual-coil consisting of two coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to model 35CS. A push/pull volume pot allows you to change from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a dual-coil.
Grover Bass tuners top off this bad boy. The Grover ˜MINI" is lightweight, compact and durable for modern electric basses. Gear ratio is 20:1. Housing is specially machined to achieve the precise tolerance that prevents slippage and allows fine tuning. Sealed gear box has permanent lubrication that makes the MINI friction-free for life.

LORD HAVE MERCY!!!

While not as popular as other Schecter bass models, the Hellraiser Extreme is an awesome piece of hardware. It is a bit on the heavy side, coming in at about 14 pounds or so. I really love the way it looks. I was torn between crimson and black, but I have a Stiletto Studio-5 in black so I opted for the red (I also have a Yamaha TRBX-540 in translucent brown). It's a matte finish, not glossy. Some pics can seem as if it is but it's not. Still, the colors pop out nicely. I'm a huge fan of neck-thru construction because it really does make a difference in sound quality. It's got Grover tuners which add to the quality of this thing. String thru also adds to great sustain. It comes with two EMG 35TWs and three band equalizers. I play rock/metal/grunge/alternative. The styling isn't so aggressive that you'll look silly playing pop, so this bass will hold its own regardless of music style. I looked around and read up one different brands and styles. I am incredibly happy with my purchase. Once I hooked this bad boy up to my peddleboard and amp, the sound was just GLORIOUS. *Side note. The first case I ordered had foam that wasn't cut to specs at the factory even though it was the right case to the Hellraiser (SGR-6B). I just kept my bass in the original box with a hydrometer and a humidipack, so I'm good to go until a replacement case gets here in a few days. No biggie.

This beast of a bass has everything a rock/metal bass player could possibly ask for, and more. It plays and sounds excellent, has a nice look, is light weight, and very durable. The EMG active pickups and 3 band EQ are top notch. I HIGHLY recommend this bass to any rock/metal bass player looking for a very nice bass at a semi-affordable rate.

How much does this bass weigh? Saw a reviewer say it weighs 14 pounds, another said it was light weight. Also saw on the 5-string Hellraiser page's q&a that the 5-string weighs about 11 pounds. Thank you!
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.submitted4 years ago
