Well-Rounded Quality Bass

I was looking for a different bass to serve as a back-up to my primary but this Schecter CV-4 has worked its way into the starting line-up. Now that I have had it for almost a month, I feel comfortable writing a review. This is a well-crafted instrument with excellent tones. It excels at delivering some of the classic sounds you would conjure out of a Precision, Jazz, or Ernie Ball MM, but at a fraction of the price of an authentic Fender or MM. The mini toggles are a very cool feature to help dial in versatile pickup configurations. It needed a little tweaking out of the box, just a little adjustment on one of the saddles, but the intonation was almost spot on. This bass feels and sounds great! I am a producer and musician with several songs on the charts recently, and feel this bass would be a solid performer in multiple genres...this will be my primary bass on a country gig tomorrow night without hesitation.

Great big round tone. Perfect for playing diferent styles. Used to play with a Jazz and a Sterling, with this bass i can play both sounds, warm sound or slap. With the pickup configuration thera are about 4 tones i really love. Great neck feel and also very important fenomenal clasic/modern looks
Outstanding if you prefer passive bass tones

In a recording studio recently, one of these was available for tracking. I was really impressed. The feel is great, with a fast neck. I like the vintage look of the instrument, esp the headstock shape. Most importantly, the pickups and controls were really attractive to me. I'm primarily a 6-string guitar player, and I'm more accustomed to the tone controls on a Telecaster or Les Paul. For example, I like the pickup switch rather than using two volume knobs to control gain to each pickup. Best of all are the coil-taps under the tone controls. It lets you switch from single-coil to humbucking separately for each pickup. This is a great feature. This instrument ended up being used on 80% of the bass tracking that ended up in the final mix for a new record. So I bought one. Very happy with this, both for live playing and recording. Like I said, if you like "modern" active pickups in your bass, this probably is not your cup of tea. But if you prefer passive pickups and like something that has a more vintage vibe, check this out.
