Elegant Lock Wheel

The S-Locks Gold feature an innovative lock wheel with a unique three-step security function. First, screw on the lock wheel by hand for basic protection. Then, tighten it further with the included Allen wrench for maximum security. Finally, use the included micro cone-top screw to permanently attach the lock wheel so you'll never lose it. Revamped Pull-Up Ball

Great Strap Locks But Be Aware!

I began using Schaller Strap Locks pretty much exclusively in 2008. The first set I purchased were installed on a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio and in 2019 they are still there. They have served me flawlessly. Now let us have a look at these new Schaller S-Locks. Cosmetically the finish is quite good although I felt a couple spots looked a little rough but what I think is more of a concern is how smooth the assembly goes and how well the moving parts of each piece function. The threaded parts did go together very smoothly and the set screw to lock the thumb-ring in place is a nice addition. Love the thumb-ring! My opinion on the integral screw as part of the lug is mixed. Although the screw is quite substantial and most surely of quality material one should realize that if for some reason one of the screws did snap off, a new strap lock set is required. I concur that a replacement part may be available. Good Luck! Be aware, the S-Lock screws are 4mm diameter where many factory strap buttons come with 3.5mm diameter screws with a few exceptions. If you are screwing these 4mm screws into solid mahogany or ash for example you may be good to go but, if you are replacing factory buttons in a maple hollow body take care. I installed a set in my Gretsch G5420TG which has a small maple or birch block glued to the inside of the upper bout where the strap button is mounted. To prevent splitting this block I first opened the original screw hole up slightly with a 9/64" drill bit before installing the new Schaller lug. The release plunger on one lock worked well but the other tended to hang up and had to be pushed in to seat properly. Once seated it did not show any sign of wanting to back out which would of course be disappointing and potentially costly. Although annoying I don't see this as a reason to return the locks or change my positive opinion of Schaller products. I am still rating them at five stars because they ultimately function as designed.

I would not Purchse Again

I don't know why Schaller changed their design. These are still well made, but they are not something I will put on my guitar. The screws are part of the buttons now, which means you cant use the Original sized screw That is in the Guitar. Thought this was the older model which I specifically wanted, but I got the newer model with the built in screws. If I was going to put them into a cheap guitar, fine, but not into a2002 Gibson Classic American made guitar and take the risk of chewing up the holes for the strap button screws. IN short, I specifically ordered here because I thought I'd be getting the original model straplocks and it's not what I got. so I'll just have to eat the cost.

    I don't like these strap locks. They fit too tight and end up spinning so they're in the wrong position and then they're to tight to get unhooked

    What size are these? Schaller says they come in 3 sizes, S, M, and L. The size refers to the width and length of the screw.
