The culmination of centuries of progress in the art of cymbal-making, Artisan Elite Hats are truly modern, innovative cymbals—designed and handcrafted by the forward-thinking artisans in the SABIAN Vault.
Artisan Elite are the dark side of Artisan. The extensive multi-peen hammering results in tone that is undoubtedly lower-pitched, drier and more complex than regular Artisan Hats. The unique lathing also results in a very solid foot and contributes to the added complexity. With their traditional Artisan cup and weight (Medium-light top over a Medium-heavy bottom), the 14” Artisan Elite hats are versatile and remain a great choice for more mainstream sounds.
The 16” Elite Hats sport a lower cup and profile—more like the Elite Rides—resulting in added control. The 16” Elite Hats are also lighter, with a light top over a medium bottom. For both sizes, the feel is softer – but just enough to allow the surface to absorb the stick without over-absorbing energy.
Artisan Elite Hats also differ from regular Artisan Hats in appearance. With unlathed traces of surface revealing tin oxide and other imperfections, this is a pair of Hats that will appeal to players who like their cymbals not so shiny and blemish-free. It’s a look that’s very well-coordinated with the sound.
