Overview

Ready for live playing, the Blues Cube Hot is equipped with 30 watts of power, plus a custom 12-inch speaker that’s been specially designed for maximum tonal response with Roland's Tube Logic circuitry, which perfectly simulates a pair of 6L6 power-amp tubes. The open-back cabinet features poplar plywood construction, which offers acoustically vibrant tone for solo or group performances.

Warm, bouncy, responsive, dynamic, elastic—these are all terms that guitarists use to describe the satisfying experience of playing their favorite tube amps. Thanks to Roland’s Tube Logic, these words can be applied to the Blues Cube Hot as well. Dramatically evolved from the first-generation sound of the original Blues Cube amps from the '90s, today’s Tube Logic accurately provides the complex, highly interactive behavior of classic tube designs in meticulous detail, providing the magical “it” factor that takes a guitar amp from a simple sound system to a living, breathing musical instrument. Great feel, distortion control with touch and volume, bloom, sparkle, power supply “sag,” and more—everything that players love about a finely tuned vintage 6L6 tube amp is present in abundance with the Blues Cube Hot.

Clean to Crunch with One Knob
The Blues Cube Hot controls the tone with just one knob from clean to crunch. Starting from clean, natural tube fullness and bite, as the volume is cranked the crunch sound provides a range of grit flavors from mild to aggressive. In addition, Boost and Tone switches shape the character. The Boost switch produces a thick and natural tube crunch sound, while the Tone switch adds a sparkling high range. And just like a vintage tube amp, the Blues Cube Hot loves stompboxes, allowing you to further shape your personal sound by hitting the amp’s front end with your favorite gain pedals.

I use this for recording and occasional jams/open mics. Beautiful sound with a wide range of tones using the volume/master and power switches, along with Boost and Tone switches. Touch sensitive, and fluid, natural responsiveness to guitar volume allows you to run with just this amp and guitar. I've had tube amps (Fender Pro Reverb, PRRI, and a tweed Princeton, etc.) and this amp is all of those and more. Oh, and it's easy to carry!

Meh. Definitley not a big sound obviously due to the tiny tiny cabinet. I am still trying to get a handle on the boost - there is no control over how much boost you get. It is just on/off. So trying to balance the Volume with the Master Volume is still a work in progress. The Tone button seems to be like a Presence button, but again, just on/off. Can't say much about about using pedals - they seem ok (I have overdrive, distortion, delay, flange, all cheap mini pedals).
It just isn't going to push a lot of air, so don't expect a big wide open clean sound, like from a 2x12 tube amp. It is very direct and focused. And smallish.
Biggest plus - I can carry it with one hand and not pull my shoulder or back.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

A solid state amp that sings and growls! Single cols and humbuckers work well. At its lowest power setting I have found several distinct, touch sensitive and usable voices. Easy to dial in. Plugs directly into my DAW without complaint. Works great at low volumes and recording. I own tube amps costing 6X the price of this amp and I must say...nice job Roland.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

This is a great little amp. I have a Blues jr., DRRI, and TRRI. So I know tube amp sound. This amp sounds alot like my DRRI. Nice tube warmth at low volume and crank it for tubelike crunch. I read its based on a Bassman circuit. Its my new grab and go amp. lightweight too.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

I have had the blues cube hot for over a month now and I find it to be an excellent combination of sound, convenience, and price.

This little 1x12 sounds good and is reasonably convincing at reproducing baseman like 6L6 tube tones even though the speaker cab is very small. The amp is nicely touch sensitive to your playing attack and also starts to break up as you turn up the volume, just as a tube amp does.

I also have the blues cube hot boss drive special, which reproduces a Marshall jtm 45 with KT66 tubes. I have both amps running together through an ABY pedal and I get great shimmer and crunch.

This amp is obviously not going to sound exactly like a bassman due in part to the small cab, but it does get close. And it seems to be very well constructed and sturdy. The power scaling is another great feature. Combine all of that with never having to change tubes or worry about them failing at a gig and the easy of transporting this 20 pound combo and Roland has a winner.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

Very punchy. The attenuator is a cool feature. .5watt up to the full 30w. Sucker gets loud. Greatvsize and weight. I have 2 other older Blues Cubes. The only reason I didnt keep this one is that my BC60 does all the same tricks, so why have 2 of the same.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

Best tube tone and feel from a Solid State amp I ever played. (Tube Logic technology) I been playing since 1983 and played all types of amps from SS to tube, modeling ect. This is by far the
best sounding non tube amp I have ever played.
Takes pedals very well. I use an electro harmonix OD glove for a little extra juice and it just sounds fantastic.
The reverb is great also. I tried this amp by accident when
Trying out a guitar in G.C. this was the nearest amp and needless to say I put down the guitar and bought the amp.
Just do yourself a favor and try one out. There are some good You Tube videos to listen to but it just doesn't compare playing it in person. Also I found out that if you turn the Master volume to max and just put the volume knob to your desired volume it will give you that sweet sounding tube sounding crunch. This is 100% correct make sure to engage the boost switch and tone switch for maximum sweetness.
I was originally also interested in the Boss Katana 50 and played it as well. It was impressive. Has a lot of bells and whistles, cheaper price but in comparison to sound and tube like feel the Roland Blues Cube Hot blows it away IMO. Every type of Guitar I own from a Les Paul, Stratocaster and Telecaster sound great with this amp and all sound like they should with their different personalities.
Do yourself a favor an try one.
Yes almost the same price as a valve amp
But without the hassle of tube replacement and not as heavy.

Comments about Roland Blues Cube Hot 30W 1X12 Combo Guitar Amplifier:

I wanted something that was lightweight, but would have decent sound. This Blues Cube 30 surpassed my expectations. I have been playing for over 40 years and I'm picky about my sound. I am playing with a classic rock band and this amp not only sounds great, but it cuts through the sound of my bandmates loud and clear. You can set it to break up like a tube amp. I'm really happy with it.
