Great little amp for the money

By Jon

from Detroit, Michigan

Comments about Rogue V15G 15W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp on the weekly flash deals for $30 to be a decoration on a shelf with other mini amps. It is larger than I was expecting and it sounds really good for it's size and price so it is not going on the shelf, It has 2 channels. The master volume, high, mid, & low controls are shared by both channels with the drive channel also having a gain control. There is a power switch, a power on led, channel select button, instrument input, and a headphone out. The power cord does not unplug from the amp. The biggest surprise, other than the sound, was that it is a closed back combo amp. It seems solid & has thick chrome corner protectors. I think it sounds better than my Pignose 7-100 but not as good as my Marshall NG2CFX and definitely nowhere near as good as any of my full size amps.

Comments about Rogue V15G 15W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp when it was on Sale and I couldn't turn it down simply because of the way it looked. Tweed cover, metal corner guards etc..,.To my surprise when I hooked up my 1970 Aria Les Paul it was
great ! Really - this is Too Cool ! Remember folks - it is what it is - but there isn't anything better out there in this inexpensive basic amp category that can beat it. The headphone jack is a nice touch. Wouldn't change a thing on this amp. Even the 6.5" speaker holds its own when I'm playing. Been playing 40+ years and being pleasantly surprised by something like this makes me Happy ! Get one - You'll like it !

Comments about Rogue V15G 15W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

      Great little amp!

I'm definitely a "bigger is better" kind of guy and all I really needed was an amp to play around at home with.

I was considering a tube amp combo or something else 3-4x the price of this.

I figured I'd buy this for the time being until I landed on my exact setup.

      I'm so glad I did!
I'm a sucker for the vintage look. It sounds great (especially for the price), and it gets far louder than I'll need for just jamming st home.

      Far better than I expected.

Comments about Rogue V15G 15W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I grabbed this amp on sale (which I recommend; wait for a sale) just because I liked its looks. I'm a sucker for tweed amps. For what I paid, I expected the amp to sound pretty bad. My intention was to bypass the electronics and turn it into a small, vintage-looking cabinet for a Hotone Mojo Diamond mini amp head. Turns out, this amp doesn't sound half bad on its own. Don't fool yourself -- it's playing through an inexpensive 6.5" speaker, so it's always going to have that tiny-speaker sound. But if you like the sound of, say, a Fender Champ 600 but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for one of those, this is an OK poor man's alternative.

As others have said, the overdrive is its weakest aspect. With the gain turned up, it sounds more like you have a torn speaker than an overdriven amp.

The unit works best for old-style blues and early rock, where you want just a little crunch and the tiny speaker doesn't seem out of place. The speaker improves greatly after 8 to 10 hours of breaking in, BTW, which you can do by attaching a music player or a looper, wrapping the amp in pillows for the neighbors' sake, and letting it play all day while you're at work.

In the end, I did install a bypass so I could use this as a speaker for my Mojo Diamond, but I left the original amp intact, too, and I use it when the mood strikes me. I consider it more of a toy than a serious amp, but it's a toy I'd probably buy again if it got stolen.

I give this four stars as it isn't an "amazing" amp, and I never expected the overdrive to be great, but for the price? I can't believe this thing.

Comments about Rogue V15G 15W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have a tube amp and was looking for a smaller portable amp and glad I found the tweed beauty. Put a echo pedal in front of it and it's a great tone with a hollow body guitar. Gives you that vintage rockabilly tone I use. It's plenty of power for what it is and if you know how to eq your guitar and amp you can get some great sounds out of this little guy. It's not battery power but who cares, it blows the pignose away no kidding and it's less money.
