The product quality is much better than expected (it's great, actually) looking at the price tag. You can use it as a stand alone pedal board (it's lined to accept velcro hooks, including the pedal specific and industrial velcro hooks) or you can put a smaller tray, and just use it as an aluminum case. I use it as a pedal board, because I like the suitcase styling, but also because I can just toss the lid on and take it anywhere in 5 seconds. The lid is lined with antistatic (I believe) cushioning, so it will hold everything you've velcroed in place. The lid fits as is on my (pictured) board, and I can also toss a few long cables inside as well. As pictured, I had to use the low head profile 90-degree 1/4" patch cables: one drawback is that you have to work within the perimeter wall constraints, the jacks will be covered by the walls. I got the Large size. As you can see, it's about the size of a 1x12 AC15 face.

Guitar Center had this listed as a "powered" pedal board, which is why I bought it. It is not powered. The casing seems sturdy enough to protect pedals, though it's heavy as holy hell even without the pedals in it. It's not very easy to transport for that reason.

When I opened the case and found that it was not powered, I still thought I would see if I could use it, so I arranged four or five pedals on it; a Dunlop Crybaby, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Boss Chorus, Boss DS-1, and EH Metal M. Plenty of room, could probably have fit three or four more pedals on it with the proper connectors. However, I did not have a 90-degree angled cables, so there was no room to run cables into the pedal chain and out again. There could have been a hole or a divot in the side of the case to run into the first pedal and out the last one, but there was none. The number of logistics issues that were not thought out for this product are many.

If you have 90-degree angled cables and ALL battery-powered pedals, this might work for you. The photos of the product show a small number of pedals with no AC adapters fitting cleanly on the board, but tellingly, they do not show a guitar cable going in or an amp cable going out. Once I had wired my AC power supply to all my pedals, the board was an absolute mess. There is no storage underneath to run power connectors or other cables. I will be returning this as soon as possible and finding a different solution.

Road Runner Effects Pedalboard

By T.T

from Shiprock, New Mexico

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

This pedalboard is great if you don't travel to often. But it does keep my pedals in good condition to play. I travel alot and the pedalboard has alot of dents. In a matter of a couple of months I have the hardest time closing it. So this is a great product, but not so good for traveling full time.

Good for the price

By walker

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I've had the small version for over a year now. I didn't want to pay $300 for a pedal case...so this one fit the bill. The inside is great- velcro friendly, and lid is soft. The interior height isn't bad. I built a little riser out of wood for the pedals in the rear row, and the lid shuts no problem. When I first got it I expected the handle to break easily (it looks cheap) but the fact that it's still in perfect shape speaks to it's durability. The butterfly locks still work well also. The exterior of the case is somewhat cheap. I gig locally and it has its share of dings and outright dents. It has held up ok, not great. This is not a roadworthy case, but sufficient for light to moderate use. A good value overall. "4-5 pedals for the small, 6-8 for the large" is a bit off. I currently have 8 pedals on the small: 4 boss singles, 2 homemade (smaller), the 3-channel sansamp(quite large), and Carl Martin Vintage series (old style enclosure-also very big). You could easily fit 8 boss pedals on the small, probably 12 on the large.

This a good case for the storage and transportation of your peddles. It comes with velcro for easy attaching.i was impressed with the sturdy latches,2 on each side. Its flight case styling alsod makes it good to look at. Overall,if you need a case for you peddles this one should be considered. If you take good care of your equiptment and dodn't abuse it,this case will be a great investment.

solid

By storm

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I looked long and hard for something that would work for me at least temporarily without going the custom route. I didn't need power but needed a solid case that could get bumped around. I haven't had this long enough to test fully but so far so good. My only complaint is that I would have preferred the front lip not to come so high. It actually gets in the way from me minimizing my volume pedal. It's too high. A proper pedalboard should have no front edge in the way period. But overall, I'm happy with this case. It's very solid and the foam and velcro were good. It's my second RoadRunner case and I'm enjoying their products. I would never pay full price but for $100 it was the best one out there for me at this time. It was the best of all the products I looked at. Most are either WAY too expensive or just had a soft case or was so way off base on what I needed as a guitarist. I name no names. This was the best solution for me. It travels very nicely.

Just as the ad reads.

By Zach

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

It's just that..."a way to safely get your pedals from point A to point B. The pedalboard is NON-POWERED, and comes with butterfly locks which are nice and sturdy. The casing is lined up with velcro hook & loop on the bottom and some nice nub padding on top to keep pedals safe and in place. As far as the outer construction, it is a little on the cheap side. The covering, or the stainless steel look isnt really stainless or steel for that matter, as a matter of fact I'm pretty sure it's wood with a sticker of some sort placed over it. It's sort of flimsy but overall, the ad pretty much says it all,,I will give it a 4/5 star rating.

Great Pedalboard for non standard size pedals

By Samantha

from Carson City, NV

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I am a multi instrumentalist and I also sing. The advantage of this pedalboard over others is that I can fit all my foot operated units in one platform without regard to size, or shape. On this board a have a Digitech Vocalist Live 3, a Boss TU3 tuner, a Digitech looper, a Line 6 G50 receiver, and a couple of pedals to drive my SR18 drum machine, which I also store in the same case when the show is over so I don't have to disconnect all the wires. Before showtime all I have to do is place the case where it's going to be, open it and remove the lid, then connect the power strip I also installed in it, and plug the output to my mixer. Easy Peasy!

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I bought the Road Runner case for my daughter 8 months ago. She is in a couple band and rehearses about 4 times per week. She performs and records occasionally. We've taken the case on only one 4-day tour. I would think this would be a moderate use pattern.

Two of the rubber feet came off within a few months. Just last week the handle broke. It would be fairly difficult to fix the case as everything is riveted, not put together with screws.

The body of the case is still intact. The latches are still working. But without a handle it is very awkward to carry around.

My daughter's friends report having similar experiences with this brand of cases.

I recently purchased a few effects pedals for my guitar, and decided that I wanted to be able to set them up for easier access. After looking at several pedal boards, I decided to purchase this Road Runner box. I bought the small version, but it has plenty of room for my gear, along with a power strip in which I have my pedals plugged. The case is plenty rugged for what I need, and provides for convenient storage when not in use.
