    The 16' Remo Emperor Ebony is on the floor tom of my drum kit. Although I'm still learning how to tune toms, it still looks spanking new and sounds decent on my floor tom

    Like most musicians, I am meticulous about finding just the right sound, tone, among other attributes for my gear. I have been testing heads for the last few years and landed on the black chrome for my toms, but by far my favorite for my snare (Mapex Black Panther Persuader) has to be the Ebony Emperor. It's tough, it's sound is tough, and it looks amazing. It has also helped me hone in on where I am striking the drumhead by revealing the wear pattern after 6 months of playing.

    I ADDED THE 8 INCH TOM HEAD TO MY SET AND IT IS DEFINITELY A DIFFERENT IN SOUND COMPARED TO THE STOCK HEADS. I DID HAVE TO ORDER IT AND GUITAR CENTER MADE IT EASY AND ORDER IT FOR ME WHICH SAVES ON SHIPPING (FREE IF THE ITEM IS GOING TO GS) $5 IF SHIPPING TO HOUSE....ALSO IT ARRIVED VERY QUICKLY SO I PICKED IT UP AT GS. OVERALL IM HAPPY WITH THE TOM HEAD AND LOVE THE EBONY COLOR THAT MATCH MY SET ALSO.

    Don't bother trying to special order anything from Guitar Center. If it isn't readily available to them in their current catalog they don't want to order it for you no matter how loyal a customer you are or have been. They will tell you that it can take up to 2 months for a reply to a pricing inquiry - two months to find out how much something would cost you to order. Even the most cookie cutter items, if they don't stock it you aren't getting it. If you are a novice musician or a kid Guitar Center is fine. If you are an experienced or professional musician you are better off finding a local store with some professional relationships
