Cheap but fun

Comments about Recording King Dirty '30s Series 7 Single 0 Limited Edition Lily of the Valley Acoustic Guitar:

Fun to play. Sound is a bit "tingy", but that's also what's cool about it. Bridge snapped off second day of owning it. Replacement guitar came in, it didn't feel the same as the original guitar I played. It felt cheap(er). Quality is a big issue. Communicating with Recording King was complicated and ultimately fruitless. Working with Guitar Center was easy.

Comments about Recording King Dirty '30s Series 7 Single 0 Limited Edition Lily of the Valley Acoustic Guitar:

Ok, so these are mass produced little guitars that are cheap but fun. If you are expecting Martin or Taylor quality, then pay for a Martin or Taylor. If you want something to keep in the living room or to take camping to play when you feel inspired and won't feel bad if someone knocks it over, this is it. Tried out two in store - out of the box and liked the display model better. Will need a setup (truss adjust and fret dressing) more likely than not. My display model has no buzz or flat spots, and the frets were smooth. It is good to go. The neck is comfortable and smooth. The thing sounds like a larger guitar somehow, especially in my small studio space. It is now my go to guitar for trying out new ideas.

Comments about Recording King Dirty '30s Series 7 Single 0 Limited Edition Lily of the Valley Acoustic Guitar:

The display model was perfect. Absolutely flawless. I was hoping to buy the display model but they gave me a new one in the box. The nut is cut way too short and the G string is sitting on the first fret. Once I get a new nut on it, this guitar should be a dream.

Comments about Recording King Dirty '30s Series 7 Single 0 Limited Edition Lily of the Valley Acoustic Guitar:

Great little guitar that is well worth the money. Be aware that you must check the setup before you buy! I tried two of these at a GC in one town and the 11 through 14th frets were sprouting on the base and treble sides. Had the tone, feel and look I wanted. Would have taken a tap or two with a mallet to reseat them. GC said it was a cheap guitar and not well made and would cost at least fourty dollars to repair! The air in their acoustic guitar room felt warm and toasty dry. That could be what caused the frets to rise in their slots. Rent to the next town and checked out what they had. This store has a humidistat that is visible to the customers and there was enough moisture in the air. I found the Recording King at this store to be in great shape. So I bought it. Neither store had any cases for parlor guitars.

This little parlor guitar has a complex old time tone. A little bark and even volume from all strings. Sound right with some of the blues I do. Played finger style, it can sound really intimate, Be aware that small bodied guitars are not as loud as the larger counterparts. I have been micing mine, but if you play out you might want to have a pickup installed.

Nice guitar for the money...mellower, simpler tone than my dreadnoughts...I'm using it live for select songs with a JJB Artist Series Prestige 330 I installed, sounds great...

I started learning guitar on a dreadnought passed down to my by my father, but this one is much more comfortable and size and much easier to play finger style on. It's also a pretty little thing, mellow and oldtimey. As far as parlor guitars go, this one's a gem especially for its price.
