US education fail
I love this PRACTICE TOOL! As I read the other reviews I am struck with the thought that the education system in this country has clearly failed many hopeful musicians out there. This is only meant to be used to practice finger placement and improve muscle memory during down time when one is away from their guitar (the one that sound comes from). Great product I recommend to anyone who can understand the basic concept of practice.

Limited practice use
This would be better if the cover locked in place when you are playing. Since it doesn't, every time you try to slide up the neck the cover starts to close. So if you want to just play simple chords to work your calouses, great. but any other use is really limited by the closing cover. Also the string adjustment is poorly crafted. It is designed to be changed from the exterior with an Allen wrench, but the quality is so poor the holes don't line up. So you have to use a screw driver to open the cover to make the adjustments. Anybody try traveling on an airline with a screwdriver lately? Yeah. Thats a problem.

Got this for my wife for physical therapy after she broke her wrist. She found it useful due to the lower string tension, which allowed her to improve her finger dexterity faster. Highly recommended for this use. #sweepstakes
Great "PRACTICE TOOL"

As the description of the item states, it is a practice tool key word being TOOL. It doesn't need to be in tune, the strings only need to be tight enough to lift off the fret board. It is a perfect way to practice finger placement and chord changes while away from my guitars. PRACTICE TOOL!

I'm a beginner and want to practice every day. I travel often for business and I bring my PocketStrings with me so I can practice my finger placement since I do not bring my guitar along. I'm surprised how many bad reviews are posted. This is only for practice - no sound. After only a few days of use, I'm already seeing an improvement! I highly recommend!
Great practice tool for left hand

Great tool for warm ups , and trill exercises with left hand . Good for practicing hammer pull offs to increase speed and improve clean fast playing when away from guitar !! or even warm ups on way to a gig when you cant be on your guitar . Many comments say it doesn't stay in tune / make sounds, etc. I don't think its intended for that purpose. Its for finger exercises when you cant play an actual guitar. Its simply for improving finger dexterity , improving technique , helping improve mechanics of playing guitar and be portable , Which I think its good for . Its not intended to make sound and replace an actual instrument.

This says it is accurate size but then says 6" long for first 6 frets. First 6 frets on a full-size acoustic guitar are 7" long.

I cant seem to find the most basic info on this. Is it an electric, steeel string acoustic or classical? even the reviews made no mention. impossible to know whether I could practice my right hand or not. kind of like someone selling you a 'motor vehicle,' and you find out whether it's an electric scooter or a mini van after youve paid.
