Returned them all

Comments about Peavey Cirrus BXP 5-String Bass Guitar:

Guitarcenter shipped me one of these basses after another and another with the same defect. The fingerthrough style bridge spacing was uneven and the E string bridge sat at an angle between the low B string bridge and the A string bridge. In addition to this defect one came with a headstock color that did not match the body. In all fairness I should mention that this bass sounds good. The low B string sounds smooth and clear,Sweet sounding in mid and high range too.I like a high radius on a bass neck with big frets, this bass has a thin flat neck with medium sized flat frets but you can adjust to this eventually. Odd, this bass feels larger in your hands than it look due to it's long neck and sleek body.String spacing is good, not to far apart or too close together.Clean, quiet electronics good for any playing style.I like this bass, and though I am on a tight spending budget I want to buy it but in this price range I want mine as well your 's to be free of any highly noticable defects minor or otherwise.

Dead spots

By Josh bull

from Tuskahoma, OK

Comments about Peavey Cirrus BXP 5-String Bass Guitar:

Pretty decent bass! It has a sound that is comparable to more expensive basses but the neck has dead spots especially on the d-string! There is no sustain on this string and no tone even on new strings! This bass replaced the fury V which in my opinion wasn't the best idea. A friend of mine traded his fury V in on the cirrus bxp too and had the same dead spot problem. I thought it was just the strings but I would restring the bass with dr strings and would sound great for about a week or so and then start sounding dead again. The other strings sound awesome as long as they would regularly. This bass is good for any style slapping, rock, country, or gospel. If there is a way to fix the dead sound on the d-string I don't know about it. The electronics are ok, but I've had this bass for 1 1/2 years now and the knobs when I adjust them they make static sounds. The electronics are noisy on mine too. I don't leave my bass setting out, I put it back in the case after each gig. Maybe I just got a bad bass but I'm saving for a music man now

Great bass for the money

By Chuck

from Aurora, IL

Comments about Peavey Cirrus BXP 5-String Bass Guitar:

I traded an Ibanez 6 string for this bass about 6 years ago. The stock electronics are much better than the imported Barts in the Ibanez. The stock strings were awful and I've tried Peavey's higher end strings as well as DR's, Elixers, Rotosounds & Slinky's. On this bass I liked Rotosound stainless the best. The taper on the blend knob is not very even. If I come off the center detent the slightest toward the neck pickup it sounds no different than full on. The taper toward the bridge pup is a little better. The sound is good and very flexible in this price range. My hands are just too small for the 35" scale though - I wish the spacing were more narrow and it had a 34" scale. I'm not a fan of the bridge and if I made one upgrade it would be a different bridge. Overall this has been a more positive experience that I would have predicted. I've gigged this bass 20-40 times a year since new and have really only had to tweak the truss rod with seasonal humidity changes. I wish it had a flip up battery cover...
