Excellent Woody Sounding Ride
submitted12 years ago

I have both the 18 & 20" versions of this cymbal. I had been looking for a long time for a ride that makes that woody clicky sound heard in old swing & jazz recordings. I found all the dry type rides the other companies are offering to be more clangy. They all make more of a dead ping than the woody tick I was after. These Trad Light Flat cymbals do it! The 18" is a bit higher pitched but its main difference is the stick is more pronounced, it doesn't generate as much wash as the 20" The stick on the 20" is still very pronounced, it just has a more noticable sizzly cushion underneath of it. They are both nicely crashable and a variety of tones can be had from them depending on how you decide to whack it. Crash sounds are pretty quick, especially on the 18".
