Overview

Based on the SE Mark Tremonti, designed and built to Mark's specifications, the SE Tremonti Custom trades a mahogany body and neck for a figured maple top and maple neck, providing a new aesthetic and feel for this popular model. The addition of trem-up-rout to the PRS designed tremolo bridge (previously only available on the Core Tremonti model) is also a welcome addition. The Tremonti Custom continues to feature two humbuckers, each with their own volume and tone control, and a three-way pickup selector on the upper bout.

Through his solo work and as the lead guitarist of Alter Bridge and Creed, Mark Tremonti has made a name for himself as a heavy rock player with melodic strength. The SE Tremonti Custom, like the SE Mark Tremonti before it, provides a quality, powerful single-cutaway guitar for guitarists ready to rock. Includes gig bag.

What a beautiful guitar in both looks and sound. I own the original Tremonti SE too, and while I really like it and feel it's great value for the money, this is a whole different animal. Like all the SE's, the fit and finish are fantastic out of the box. The superb wide thin neck is VERY playable. The tuners are very solid high quality. This guitar is much thicker than the original Tremonti SE. It's more the size and weight of a Les Paul. It has sustain for days! The pickups are the 245's and they sound really sweet in all three positions. This thing gets nice and chunky when you want it to. Throw in a nice trem system and you have a smoking hot deal. Compared to a $700 LP, this thing just shines! The only thing I would change is that it's delivered with 9 gauge strings. I'd switch that to 10's. As a result, I had to adjust the guitar out of the box. This is a small quibble, and Guitar Center will do it for you on the spot, but I can't imagine who spec'd 9's on a guitar like this. Everything else was perfect. If you're afraid to buy something made in Korea, let that go. This is a very well made guitar that is much closer to the American PRS than you would imagine. It blows other cheap LP style's out of the water. This is a REALLY REALLY great deal, especially if you can catch a sale.

I was a little disappointed in the condition that the guitar arrived in at my store in Tucson. The finish on the guitar was beautiful but it looked like every person in the store that it shipped from had handled the guitar right after eating a greasy hamburger. The e B and G strings had rust spots all over and every part that could show a fingerprint had one on it. The setup was awful, the strings must have been 1/4" above the fretboard. To top all this off, I received no paperwork, no tremolo arm, no neck wrench or allen wrench. After I got home I contacted the store manager at my local store about the missing parts and I had them in my hands in two days and I live 70 miles away. Kudos to the Tucson store. This guitar came from the Mesquite Texas store and it is clear that they could care less and take no pride in the products that leave their store. Such a shame!!! Also there are some issues that I need to address to PRS. Like the knife-like edges of the frets that took me 4 hours to fix!!

All you could ask for

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

I owned the previous version of the Tremonti from 2009 or 2010 and it was a very, very good guitar. Bought the new Custom in Charcoal Black last year and could not have been happier with its quality and tone. Really superb. Bad circumstances hit me and I had to sell it along with several other axes, including some higher end Gibsons, Fenders and a solidbody Taylor electric (great axe too... check one out if you can find one!) Anyway, the Tremomti Custom was the one that was always on my mind- the guitar I regretted selling the most. Saw that the Cherry Sunburst model was on sale recently and jumped on it without hesitation. It is so well crafted that I cannot believe it sells for so low. That is preposterous. The fret work is so well done, I urge the folks at other guitar companies to visit the PRS Korean plant to find out how they are doing it! That's been my experience with all of the PRS SE's I own (I have the Santana, Custom 24 Floyd, Custom Semi-Hollow and the Bernie Marsden model.) All have necks, finger boards and fret work that are superior to anything else I've handled. The 245 humbuckers are great and provide a wide variety of tones, all of which are full and dimensional... not flat or shallow. It's body is significantly thicker than other SE's and this provides some great sustain. I could go on forever. Bottom line- get this guitar in your life.

crazy value, superb instrument

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar was legitimately everything I was looking for in my most recent search for a guitar. I wanted a guitar with les paul chunk and mellow syrupy sound, with a full thick body. I'm young and pretty big, so a chambered body isn't a necessity for me. Usually, I will take foreign made guitars and supe them up. This guitar caught my eye while looking at it's specs online, and when I finally tried it out in store, it was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to re string, unlike floyd roses, wide thin neck, essentially identical to the se custom 24 necks, and great mellow sustain, even though it was floating neck. I honestly wished it were a fixed bridge, but the guitar's gain is still rather impressive. I sanded down the back of the neck, then popped in a joe garden humbucker in the bridge and a gibson classic 57 in the bridge, and it honestly gave me that classic les paul sound I was looking for. Playing it through my or15/ppc112 mini stack gives me some of the most luscious thick, spongy, soulful, yet still articulate distortion I have ever heard. Including the cost of swapping out the pickups, sanding down the neck, and rewiring the guitar, plus the cost of the original guitar was >1200 dollars. Yet I can honestly say this guitar sounded as good as vintage les pauls, but with a much more playable neck. If you see this guitar on the shelf, definitely give in a try.

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

Not a fan of the nut. High string side the nut comes to a point. Used a file to round it off. I've read on many sites that no setup was needed. That also wasn't the case. Setup with some 10's and she screams. As for shipping, you will not get your guitar on time. It took them 6 days just to ship from the warehouse.

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar was fantastic right out of the box. Great tone and silky smooth. Great for soloing. I own a few Gibsons and the quality of this PRS if every bit as good. Can be beat for the money. I would take this guitar over my Gibson Studio right now. And there is not much difference between this and my LP custom. Would recommend to any guitarist.

Watch out for tight nut slots. They are prevalent on the SE line. Sent mine back 2x and still didn't get fixed. They finally replaced the guitar but the replacement has the same issue. Wow. I only recommend PRS core guitars Very disappointing experience.

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

First off, I'm not paid or compensated in any way for this review. I'm just like you, a guitar player who loves great value and hunts for perfection at the absolute lowest price possible. I can say that this 2017 Tremonti PRS SE guitar is so close to my Maryland, USA guitars (and others) in quality and playability, that I cannot tell them apart. I own two 10-Top Core USA Custom 24s, a USA CE24, 3 other PRS SE guitars, and 20 additional guitars from the usual suspects, including a most-awesome Joe Satriani JS2450 Muscle-Car Purple Ibanez. This Tremonti SE impresses me more than all of the guitars I own, because it is as good as any that I own at 20%-24% of the cost. The design, structural beefiness, execution, attention to detail, neck and fret feel, sound quality and fit-and-finish is as close to perfect as I've ever seen or played on a guitar, let alone one this inexpensive. If I could find even one thing about this guitar that I could possibly fault, and I would be splitting the thinnest of hairs, I would say that the bridge pickup is just a few percentage points sharper than I would like, but certainly not making it worth changing out, unless you just can't find enough suitcases and mattresses to stuff all your excess money in. These pickups sound quite close to the USA HFS/VB pickups in my various PRS Core guitars, but with their own unique spicy-flavor and powerful drive. When cranked to 10 (and your amp to 11, like in Spinal Tap), the bridge pickup projects searing, Satriani/Vai-type overtones that can rock your soul to its core and make you want to play it more and more. I would have to say that this neck plays faster and more easily than any other guitar I have, except my Satriani, like it gets completely out of your way and lets you 'think' your music into the world. The neck is arrow-straight and the frets are all perfect in alignment, height and width, up and down the neck. The fret-ends are smooth and as soft as butter (just like Ibanez' prem

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

I was looking around for a nice guitar, that had a good sound, and something not so expensive. I searched Youtube videos, etc. It's difficult to test out the guitars in store, especially when you can't mimic your set up. I said, "what the heck, I'm going to take the chance, and hope that I don't have to make another trip to the store for a return". Got home, hooked it up, and I was like "WOW! This can't be real." My style of music is hard rock, and this guitar sounds outstanding! And the weight, oh my gosh, it's light! I've honestly never been this stoked about a guitar, that wasn't expensive. Not only that, but the sound. Totally recommend this guitar for soft or hard rock.

I bought this because Mark Tremonti has always been a huge inspiration to my playing. After purchasing this with confidence, there's absolutely no regret. It does have some weight to it, but not that bad. Very comfortable. My style of music is all over the place, but mostly into hard rock. This guitar definitely works well with that style. The pickups provide such a clean sound. I mostly use the bridge pickup, since I do a lot of distortion.

Comments about PRS Tremonti SE Custom Electric Guitar:

I am actually very impressed and very pleased with this guitar. Maybe some people from earlier comments had a bit of bad luck, but my experience was great. The store didn't have one in, and i was debating between this, and epiphone prophecy and the SE 245 that was in the store. So, I ordered it, picked it up at the store and it played beautifully as we pulled it out of the box (of course I had to put it in tune, but action was low, no fret buzz). Great profile on the neck, making it so easy to play on. The pickups in it are actually pretty darn good, and I didn't anticipate changing them until someone took their PRS Tremonti pickups out o there USA core model and offered them to me for $120. I don't recommend anyone buying based on a review, but I do recommend trying it out yourself.
If they had a version available in a a stoptail, i would buy in heart beat. The Trem system is great, but I just would like a stoptail so I could go to Drop D without having to re-tune the other strings.
