Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

Well I planned to but a Gibson Standard guitar...which I really love the sound of. I already have an fender American standard strat and like it for clean and blues stuff...but it lacks the fat growl of a Gibson for some of the music I pay. You really need both. I also have another high end less paul guitar with excessive active pickups...for modern playing. I played almost every prs se model...a well as the American prs custom 24. I liked the tremonti, Zack Meyers, and 245 the best. Several of the prs guitars had a similar sound...but because of the fat body and neck of the 245 the 245 has significantly more low end growl...which I love. The other ones were good but were like their juevos got cut off. I don't buy guitars buy brand name. I buy based on quality and sound. The 245 se custom quality, sound, and playability is more in line with the Gibson standard than the lower end Gibson's like studios. If you have a real professional ear for music the 245 sounds significantly richer, fuller, rounder, warmer, etc. than a Gibson studio. The Gibson studio sounds way better than Epiphone...which I've owned two of...but can't touch the 245. The studio also feels and looks like a 2x4 with strings...kids instrument in comparison. The studio body is way too light...not even close to standard Gibson...though they are supposed to be stripped down version...just bs. Again, studio is okay but not in same league. The 245 shockingly sounds better than the more expensive American prs models i played. My only complaint is it seems prs guitars buzz more than Gibson's and epis on low e string...so you need to raise action a little too maybe .9 but still doesn't go away completely. The 245 is beautiful. The two guitar techs that I had look it over and set it up thought it was an expensive U.S. model. It seriously sounds just as good as the American ones...but has a slightly less expensive cap...which doesn't effect sound. New 2017 pickups sound phenomenal...
