PRS

Description

The PRS Custom 24 is the quintessential guitar that launched Paul Reed Smith's iconic brand over three decades ago. This legendary instrument continues to be a top choice for discerning players, from internationally touring acts to local gigging musicians. The Custom 24 pairs premium tonewoods with PRS's renowned craftsmanship, resulting in an instrument that sounds as phenomenal as it feels to play.

Premium Tonewoods and Hardware for Unrivaled Tone

Tonal excellence is at the core of the Custom 24's DNA. The carved, figured maple top enhances midrange presence and shimmering highs. Mahogany back and neck provide warmth, sustain and balanced resonance across all frequencies. Gen III locking tuners eliminate tuning issues, allowing you to focus on the music. Every component comes together to produce the Custom 24's signature voice—one that has inspired countless players over the decades.

Exceptional Playing Comfort With Pattern Thin Neck

The Pattern thin neck profile makes the Custom 24 an absolute joy to play for extended periods. Its slender, gently curved shape provides a smooth, familiar fretting hand position that reduces strain. Combined with the 24 frets and 25" scale length, the neck facilitates effortless position shifts and wide bends without ever feeling cramped. The ebony fingerboard's silky feel and stabilizing properties further enhance the playing experience.

Remarkable Clarity From the 85/15 "S" Pickups

Another signature feature is the 85/15 "S" pickup set, which Paul Reed Smith personally designed to celebrate PRS's 30th anniversary. These pickups combine remarkable clarity with an extended frequency range for a sound that cuts through any mix. Glassy highs ring out with pristine definition, while the lows resonate with tight, focused punch. The balanced midrange ensures every note blooms with warm, organic presence. You'll experience dynamic sensitivity and harmonic richness whether playing intricate chords or blistering leads.

The Tremolo That Revolutionized Pitch Expression

A key hallmark of the Custom 24 is its patented PRS tremolo system, designed to provide exceptional tuning stability and smooth, precise pitch manipulation. As you sculpt divebombs, flutters and controlled warbles, the bridge's low-friction knife edges allow the strings to travel effortlessly in both directions. The increased sustain and unique voice of the tremolo make the Custom 24 a versatile sonic palette for any genre or playing style.

Does this violet custom 24 look like the picture with the hints of blue showing through? When looking at vids this color varies from beautiful (like your picture here) to quite ugly. I'm not talking about the wood grain which will obviously differ.

Why does the Gray Black Custom 24 cost so much less than the other colors?

    Open Reply - Ronald
The pricing is set by the manufacturer for various reasons. Typically when a specific color is less than others is to clear out back stock on a color that may not be as popular as the others.

A representative online told me the faded whale blue natural back is discontinued but the website says April 14 available. Do we know if that specific color will ever come in or is there a way I can check with manufacturer etc. thank you for any input.

I am showing the model you linked is currently not discontinued. It appears that we changed the SKU number when they released a bunch of new finishes. That's why the initial guitar was showing as "discontinued"
