If you are reading this, you probably have already read at lease 3 or 4 other reviews. You also are trying to decide whether to get the double chain or single, so if you are looking at the single chain here?s my review. Like you before purchasing this product I read the review and I will compare the reviews to how I feel about the actual product. For the most part the reviews for this product were great, some said that it gets a little squeaky after a while, one totally went off on the pedal and said don?t buy it what so ever. I agree and disagree with all of them. To start when you first open the box, the set up looks very easy and it is. It only took 5-10 minutes to put it together. Tip; the first thing I did even before I put it on the drum set, was oil it. I recommend you purchase a can of ?WD-40? at your nearest hardware store, Wal-Mart or Target. IF ANY ONE WORKING FOR GUITAR CENTER IS READING THIS, WD-40 WOULD BE A GOOD PRODUCT TO HAVE IN THE DRUM SECTION! Moving on. BE VERY CARFUL PUTTING ATTACHING IT TO UR BASS DRUM, especially if you have a wooden drum, for it will chip some wood off. Underneath both pedals is Velcro. But, if you are putting this on regular household carpet ?the one with the strands? then the Velcro is of not much help. However, there is on the second pedal something where you can screw 2 nails into the floor, something like what most of you have on your bass drum legs. Lastly playing the double pedal is alsome there is no squeaking no does it slide often. However as I mentioned the pros there are some cons. Deciding where the second pedal goes can be some what challenging, as you may have to more your hi hat to the side a little and your snare up or back, changing the way you are used to playing a bit. Also IT DOES NOT COME WITH FELT BEATERS, so you might want to save some money and invest in a good pair of beaters, for the semi-soft plastic ones they give tend to stick just a little to the plastic bass drum head. REMEMBER! Don?t be stengie on that oil! Use lots of it because it prevents rusting and the annoying squeaking that lucky I have not come across yet.

I bought these to get started playing double bass. I was impressed with the price. Figured "Hey why not?" I can get my feet wet and start learning. Never could get them dialed in. I took them back within the month and paid the difference for a set of Pearl pedals. They were the lower end $189 pedals. World of difference. You would be better off paying an additional $70-$80 and getting a used set of Eliminator pedals than a new PDP set. I upgraded from my old Pearl pedals and bought the DW 9002's and never looked back. If your a person that isnt sure if music and drums are your thing and dont want to drop that kind of hard earned $$$ ( be it yours or Mom and Dad's) Then go with the PDP's. If you think this may be your career then upgrade immediately. You will feel the difference. It's like comparing a new Corvette to a used worn out Minivan. Yes they are both forms of transportation but one will leave you broke down on the side of the road. Just my honest opinion. Its worth the extra $$$. Go to a GC and sit down and play them new in the box and compare to a used higher end pedal. You'll see what I mean.

Best Double Pedal For Its Price On The Market
By shan11

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
This is a great pedal, especially for its price. I can almost guarentee thet you'll be satisfied with it. With the exception for some people who are really, really picky about their equipment... but anyway, it's easily able to compete with some higher line brands. Before I bought this, I tried out two other pedals, but when I tried this one I immediatly decided on it because it's way smoother than my single and had definately way better reaction. The only problem I had was setting it up. Other than that though, it's perfect.

Great Beginner Pedal

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
Great pedal for the price and for a beginner. But if you are an experienced double bass pedal or plan on keeping the pedal to play really fast not a good choice.

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
before i had a drum kit i wanted to buy some double bass pedals to get started on footwork. I had no idea what to buy and had no prior knowledge about anything drum related...i just wanted to learn. I ended up buying this set without even trying them out and quickly learned to love them. My friends suggested to try other pedals as well but none felt as smooth as these. I have used them for almost 2 years now and still are great! many gigs later I still happy with them

PDP 402
By Alex
from Seattle, WA
Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
The PDP 402 Double Bass Pedal I bought two years ago. Since then, I have seen my double bass speed increase exponentially. It feels light, and gets the job done for a double bass pedal. If you're thinking you will play drums as a hobby, then this pedal is for you. However, if you're considering going farther than that, you may want to consider these factors: the pedal doesn't adjust the height of the footboard; and the pedal doesn't provide an adjustment for beater stroke (how close the beater is to the head of the drum). The last factor is rather important because if you play far back on the footboards (like I do), the pedal easily catches on your pants and interrupts playing, or smacks the top of your foot. However, if you're looking for a basic double pedal to learn on and practice with, buy this pedal. It's cheap, and it gets the job DONE.

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
This pedal plays very simaler to the DW 5002, I have this one at home and for personal gigs, and the 5002 at my church where i twice a week, every week. the only difference is probably how long they'll last. idk yet i'll get back to ya ina few years. but if you're a beginner, or just a broke drummer like myself, this is DEFINATELY the pedal for you.

Nothing Special...
By chaoticharmonyIL

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
These pedals work fine if you dont need to go all that fast on your feet, but the left pedal in particular is pretty unresponsive and very difficult to adjust. Also, the design of the beaters tends to cause a bit more damage than necessary to your skin. So i'd recommend just saving up for a nicer set of Pearl or Tama pedals that are a little less frustrating.

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
This pedal would probably have to bee my choice for beginners- because even though it may not be the fastest, if you get use to playing fasst on this pedal and you buy a better one, you'll go at least twice as fast. It's perfect for practicing

Hmmmm...
By zpeterson617

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
First off, this pedal is definitely a beginner pedal. It is pretty stiff and doesn't have a lot of rebound. If you occasionally like to come back to playing single bass pedal, then I would recommend switching it out with your old single bass pedal. It doesn't sound that great as a single bass pedal. Over all though, I really enjoyed it. It is durable and if you have strong enough legs can go pretty fast. Once you break it in the stiffness will wear. Good price, decent pedal!!

Great Pedal!
By Michael K.
from Jackson, Ohio
Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
Over the past 30 plus years, I've used several different pedals. I can honestly say this double pedal stands with the best. Regardless of what some other reviewers say, this pedal IS responsive. If you find it not to be, then I suggest you adjust the spring tension until you have it where you want. It responds to light subtle beats as well as fast and hard. Very durable too. Easy to adjust, quick to set up. Can't beat the price either. To be honest, don't think of the price as a reflection of quality in this case. Just go into Guitar Center and use one. You'll see. I recommend this pedal to anyone who wants good quality and a great price. Drum on!!

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
WOW!!! is all I could say about this pedal. When I ordered this pedal about a year ago, I was blown away!!! My uncle even left good remarks about how smooth it is and its sleek looks. I personally like it for its fast speed, though the only problem is that it will seize up after a lot of palying, I mean a LOT!!!! So it's best to have some WD-40 handy just in case. All-n-all, this is the best pedal for the price that i have bought. You would be out of your mind if you passed up the opportunity to get it!

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
I would not even buy this pedal to start out with, because you would be waisting your money! If your a beginner it would be smarter to invest in something that you could really use out in a gig! I have had this pedal for 3 years, and now I cant stand this pedal! Im getting a new pedal sometime soon...A good pedal is something you should invest in, trust me you will thank me later!

Comments about PDP by DW DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:
I picked this pedal up about 3 years ago and have used it ever since. I have been playing pretty fast double bass beats of over 140 bpm for the past year now and this pedal has held up to it. All I've needed to do is oil it up. I would highly recommend it to someone starting out on the drums. If you are gigging, spend a couple more bucks to get a higher quality pedal just to be sure that it will not break during a live song. Highly recommend this pedal.
