I finished setting up my new drums today and DANG are they sexy! In case anyone is hung up in whether or not to get it because of the lack of specification of tom mounts, THE TOM MOUNTS ARE INCLUDED! I almost didn't buy this because I never got a clear answer if the tom mounts came with or not. Luckily, taking the risk, I bought it and got way more than I expected! It took me a few hours to set the whole thing up, but that's only because there's just so much that you get! I even got gig bags (cheap cloth ones, but STILL was not even expecting that!), a set of sticks, and a drum key. The snare head, however, is not the greatest so I will very soon be replacing it with an Evan's Onyx snare head for a dark sound. The Remo heads that are on it are simply just regular, plain Remo's (not emperor series, etc). One last note, as for stands, there is NOT a snare stand in this pack (understandable); ONLY the tom mounts. Happy drumming.

So I reviewed a lot of forums and blogs about woods for drums and saw that Hardwoods sounded the best, Maple and Mahogany being the top 2. Poplar was in the mix but it was down low on the totem pole, but it was listed as a hard wood. When I saw the pic of this set and then the price tag, I instantly wanted to know what wood it was.. So being a poplar wood kit I expected it to sound softer and rounder than the Maple DW kit I tested out. It was maybe 3db softer, but the tone, and I am an old dude so good tone to me is 60s and 70s stuff - when Poplar was the main wood used - the tone of this kit is exactly what I was looking for. I'm into Fusion and Progressive stuff like 70s 80s Genesis and of course RUSH. This kit is perfect for that - stock heads and everything. I DID replace the snares with the best ones on the market - forget the name but they were $23.00 @ GC - and are a vast improvement compared to the snares that came with the drum. Still I'm shopping snare drums and will probably go with a supraphonic or the like.. But man, this set blows me away every time I play it.

Just as a note, if you order for delivery be ready for a few hours of assembly. I have owned Tama, Pearl, Mapex, and Ludwig. This kit is awesome for the price. Do not confuse the PDP with a brand name these are made by DW and are kicken. I added kickports to the bass drums and they boom. The color states Gray Metal but is actually a metal flake that shines . . . beautiful. If you think this is a cheap quality, bottom end drum kit you are sorely mistaken. With proper tuning each and every drum has excellent tone and sustain. This is one of the best purchases I have made when it comes to drum sets. Don't take my word for it check them out at Guitar Center.

I bought this kit because the price was well below anything else I could find, everything is great. I was afraid It wasn't going to have mounts or even spurs for the bass drum but it came with everything and more, even spare parts.

I have had this set for a few weeks now. For this price this is the best set around. I have played for about 15 years, everything from drum corps to being a session drummer. I own 4 sets (5 now) and got this because i was asked to play in a metal band and none of my other sets fit the bill very well. Two were small sets set up for jazz (yeah im a jazz player in a metal band, crazy i know)and the other was a 5 piece low end set and a latin setup. This set is grate even with the heads that come on it (Remo heads made in china). I put on evens hydos and tuned it pretty low. It now has a VERY nice sound. Without any EQ they sound like what you want a set to sound like. I tuned the bass drums differently and use two crossed double bass drum pedals, pretty fun having it set up like that. Comes with two "bass drum" pillows. The only thing i dident like about the set was the snare, but do you ever get a good snare with a shell pack?? Its not a bad snare just not anything grate. Shows in the photos ported bass drum heads but mine did not come with them. You can pick gray or gray. Looks good but wish there were more options. Overall this is a nice set and it sounds just as good as my DW set. Dosent sound the same but just as good with a different sound. This set sounds better then the Tama or Pearl 8 piece set that cost the same or a few hundred more. This set does not look like a pro set but it sounds like one.

Not enough words on this earth to say how much I love this kit! It is such a great kit for playing live or recording in a studio which i have. The tone is so sweet and punchy really great for playing thrash and speed metal but can also be used for everything else, can cut through anything. The price is like a steal should be worth more. They should have stamped DW on this kit not pdp!

Playing this kit hard with no problems whatsoever! It is a huge set and tom mounts are included. Played high end kits here and there and these sound as good as those. Not sure why anyone would need to spend more on a kit. Awesome!

I immediately fell in love with this kit the moment i saw it on the floor. I upgraded from a standard 5 piece, to this kit and haven't looked back since. Although it is a tad pricey, you get quite a bit for the money and similar kits are well over twice as much. The only problem i have is that it is a somewhat huge kit and takes up quite a bit of room, but it is well worth it.

I've had this kit for about a month and it just keeps getting better and better. I also bought a Gibraltar rack to go with it. Great sounding drums, sturdy hardware. It only comes in one finish but, the pictures don't do it justice. Very nice color and the powder coated hardware really sets it off. With stock heads the sound is killer. some recommend changing heads I personally are fine with what came on the drums. I will be adding a Kick Port soon. I highly recommend this kit.

After looking around for a while and trying to find the right drum set for me to use against my neighbors, I found this.. I had just left the bar at 11 in the morning and headed to Guitar Center to look at another Guitar. As i was inebriated and wandering the store, I saw this on the mobile site.. I immediately went up to Jesus and shouted "I want this!".. He then helped me over to the percussion expert and I ended up getting the Drum set, Meinl 8 piece set, stands, kicks and sticks.. $1500 later and I'm just then waiting on everything to arrive!.. 3 Days later and it arrived at the store. Unfortunately my truck had broken down the night before so I was forced to pick everything up in the Mustang.. This car can hold a lot including a 12ft Christmas tree and a few hookers.. Love it!,, The store manager assisted me with the finalization of the order and told me that it all would not fit in my car... Not knowing that I'm an Expert in Tetris, I proved him wrong.. I couldn't see out of my passenger side but, who needs to see anyways? It only adds to the adventure of Life!.. I get the drum set home and after a few hours of setup I was finally able to annoy my Neighbors at 2A.M. in the morning.. YES!!!!. I highly recommend this set to anyone. Tone quality is great and build quality is excellent.

this set is great. it doesn't come with the rack though. the stock toms aren't very good but once you replace those its an amazing set. the finish does have a greenish color but it looks great. all toms and base drums sound awesome. its an amazing deal. its sad if you don't buy these. its a insanely good deal.

I Own several sets , but these are the first Poplar shells and I am very impressed with the sound ,the Toms sound great even with the factory Remo heads and the kicks are thunderous ! the snare isn't being used as all new snares sound bad to me ,so I gotta do some work on that before its useable , overall im almost as impressed with these as I was the DW collectors i bought 5 yrs ago ,I had to part with them for money reasons and can't afford new DW's and these came in right down my alley at a great price for a huge kit. I would recommend these to any level player.

I bought this drum set expecting quality and that is what i got. It takes a little bit extra to get the best drum tone, but once you do, its great! Great for hitting hard! Good idea to later add better heads, but all the hardware is built to last!

Just got it today, couldn't stop playing on it. Only long enough to write this review! The kit came in 3 separate packages, one came on the 6th, and the next 2 came today. I ordered 2 pedals along with it. LOVE LOVE LOVE This kit. 5 stars! Will suggest to anybody.

I am a very serious double bass player, and I'm so happy I bought this kit!! I got this kit because I was sick of playing a double bass pedal, a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan, and I wanted to try to play two bass drums. And also, this was my dream set for 2 years. I finally bought it, and I will never ever regret this. Huge set, huge sound, and it's soooooooooooooooooo much fun to play!! Even with the stock heads, it sounds really good! I tuned them up and put e-rings on them and it does the trick. I do plan to replace them later on with Evans G2 batter/G1 as resonants. If you're a double bass player, get this kit, you won't ever regret it.

I record a lot in my home studio and this set is great
The double bass drum gives you great balance and stability while playing. The snare hardware could be of better quality, but its decent. Set comes with no stands which is a huge inconvenience, no pedals either, but its a great set overall.

I bought this set for my son's birthday pitcure showed a WHOLE LOT more than you get. I understand no cymbals in a drum kit but really, no stand for the snare and no pedal for the kick drum. So yes they got me. Guess I just got the Business from them forget honest read the fine print.

I purchased these about 3 years ago and have been very pleased. Stock heads are decent, but I upgraded to Remo Pinstripes and Ambassadors...made a big difference. The snare is the weakest link of the set. I replaced it with a Lugwig LM402...which is awesome! This is not the same quality as high end DW, TAMA, or PEARL...but it's not $6,000 either. Overall very good for the money.
