collapse expand iconDescription

The TC Helicon VoiceTone Single T1 vocal tone and dynamics effects pedal adapts professional-grade compression, de-essing and EQ to your individual voice for optimized tone right from the stage. Just plug in your microphone and let the pedal analyze your vocal frequencies compared to an ideal target. It then applies gentle compression to smooth out variances, brightens muddiness and removes harsh "ess" sounds for a rich, studio-quality vocal sound every time you perform.

Simple Plug-and-Play Setup

Getting studio-caliber vocal tone from the VoiceTone Single T1 pedal couldn't be easier. Simply plug your microphone straight into the T1 then connect it to your PA system or amp. No complex routing or patching required. The pedal's intelligent processing analyzes your voice and makes any necessary tonal adjustments automatically. You can even tweak the amount of compression and EQ shaping to suit your taste with the simple knobs on top of the pedal.

Award-Winning Processing in a Stompbox

Despite its compact size, the T1 pedal packs the same high-end vocal processing as TC Helicon's prized VoiceLive 2 rackmount unit. It combines gentle downward compression to smooth out variances in your vocal delivery with a studio-quality de-esser to tame harsh "ess" sounds. The adaptive 3-band EQ compares your voice to an ideal frequency response and applies boosts or cuts to remove muddiness and add clarity and air. All this award-winning processing comes in a rugged metal stompbox designed for the rigors of live performance.

Intuitive Tone-Shaping Controls

Shaping your voice with the VoiceTone Single T1 pedal is intuitive and flexible thanks to its streamlined interface. The Adaptive EQ knob controls the amount of brightness and clarity added to your tone. The Compression knob adjusts the amount of smoothing compression applied. Maximize this for consistent tone as you move around on stage. You can even blend in your unprocessed vocal sound with the Mix knob. Whether you want subtle smoothing or more dramatic tone optimization, the T1 puts studio-quality vocal processing at your feet.

I have a small PA set up (Mackie ProFX board, QSC K12s, Shure Beta58s) that I use mostly for my acoustic guitar duo. We play in noisy restaurants where vocals can get buried but I get dirty looks if we are too loud. I was researching compressors to try to limit peaks (the singer can get quite loud in certain ranges) while also adding clarity to quieter passages. I really didn't want to lug a piece of rack gear around and knew that I could easily make the vocals sound artificially squashed if I didn't know what I'm doing (I don't). I'm pretty sure that no professional sound guy would want something so simplistic but, for musicians mixing themselves, this little pedal is easy to carry to gigs and appears to offer the most commonly used compression ratios and EQ for vocals - and at a fraction of the cost of rack gear. The effect is very subtle but it absolutely evened out the vocal volume and applied the perfect EQ by removing some muddiness and practically eliminated the proximity effect. On a side note: The pedal labels one knob as "compression/de-essing" -with compression increasing as the knob is turned counterclockwise and de-essing increasing as the know is turned clockwise. This seems a bit dubious since adding compression naturally increases problems with sibilance. Backing off the compression is a way of "de-essing" in a manner of speaking. This seems like a way to make the pedal seem more feature laden than it really is. That little rant aside, this is a great pedal and probably the most useful in the TC Helicon VoiceTone series.

There appears to be a lot of confusion about what this is, and what this does. When I received it, I hooked it up to my dynamic mic and my PA, turned it on/off and COULD NOT tell the difference. I took it to my studio with the same mic - only then could I begin to hear the differences. Once I understood the differences, I could take it back to my PA and hear the differences. Here's what this does well, IMHO 1) Reduces the need for parametric EQ when recording vocals. For almost all the vocal types that I tried, this does a good job of setting the vocals so they fit well in the mix. 2) Compression - this does a VERY GOOD job of setting up compression so you don't have to dial it in. It nicely pulls up notes sung off axis and subtly squashing things sang too loud. This piece has defintely found a place in my studio.

since tc helicon split up their line to enjoy each effect and its full potential, it has been only a good choice for simple floor pa support, giving great body and delivery. i also own the voice doubler and it too brings out your best. a great piece for my armory....have tried others, many, and for the price they have it down.
