I've owned the wireless version of this same mic for years. It reproduces clarinet, sax, acoustic guitar, mandolin and flute all quite competently, with amazingly little feedback problem. To facilitate switching instruments on a gig I bought a straight cable from Shure, removed the capsule from the gooseneck mounting, and now I strap the mic to my wrist. With slight adjustments, it picks up each instrument well. Very reasonable price for all it does.

I'm really enjoying this microphone. It sounds wonderful and makes it so easy to record my alto saxophone. I read a review elsewhere on the internet that complained about the thin cable coming out of the microphone that could be easily damaged. I don't think it'll be a problem, though. At the end of the thin cable is a longer-than-normal male XLR connector with a sturdy clip. You can connect a regular mic cable to it, clip it to a pocket on your pants, and then coil up the thin cable and hang it on your waist where it's safe. Anyway, I'd highly recommend this microphone, at least for saxophone players.

    1. Does this work well with a sousaphone, clipped on the bell?
2. Will there be any key clatter?

This microphone is designed to fit on the bell of an instrument so there should be no problems.
