Overview

This is Shaker’s blues/rock microphone. Designed and built for the more aggressive harp player. The Shaker Retro Rocket, with its hand-cast, solid pewter grille and black crinkle finish, looks like it fell out of the 1940s, classic and cool.

The Shaker Retro Rocket’s heart is a large-diameter dynamic element with a frequency response range of 40 - 6,000 Hz, producing a big, fat tone with a hint of compression.

The Retro Rocket mic is approximately 40% smaller than traditional bullet mics (more easily cupped for players with smaller hands). The output connection is an external Neutrik XLR unit wired PIN-2-HOT (works great in microphone clips).

If you use the Shaker Retro Rocket mic with an impedance-matching transformer in the input of your amp, your Retro Rocket becomes a super-charged tone monster, driving your amp into aural overdrive. All Shaker harmonica microphones are really two very different units in one. Direct to amp has the traditional Shaker tone and response. Used with a line-matching transformer, you get high output - hot and driven. Maximum flexibility, it’s your choice.

  • Handmade in Arkansas (USA)

Guitar Center needs to check their products before shipping

Comments about Shaker Retro Rocket Dynamic Microphone:

I have not been happy with the purchase of this mic. Not because of its performance or it's ability on stage, but after more than two weeks I have not been able to use it. I play the harp in mulitple bands and have played for over 25 years. I was interested in trying this mic and I have used a Green Monster and SM57 for playing in the past.

The first mic was not shipped with the Nuetrik XLR adapter (shown in the picture) that is required to connect the mic to a XLR cable. I assumed it was an oversight by the people in shipping it from the warehouse. I called customer service and they sent me a second mic but again it had no connector. I don't know if this is a problem with Guitar Center or the Shaker microphone company. I am still trying to get this resolved now over two weeks later. I believe Guitar Center should not sell this product until they check if all stocked items of this microphone have the required accessories to use it. The folks at Guitar Center have been supportive to date, but the issue is still unresolved. Buyer beware

Comments about Shaker Retro Rocket Dynamic Microphone:

I use this mic on stage and for recording. It's compact size shouldn't fool you. This mic rocks. It is well built and has a great retro look. The volume control is easily accessible. The size of the mic allows for complete cupping action while playing your harp. I use mine through a 1970 Oliver Power flex 502 65 watt tube amp and I get an unbelievable sound. I have used it on smaller tube amps and it has a great response with them as well. Shaky Joe knows what he's doing when it comes to his line of Shaker harmonica mics. If you can get one of these I wouldn't hesitate for a second.
