I bought the Roland A-60 this weekend and used it at church on Sunday. A musician friend of mine in the congregation complimented the amp on its "liquid" tone. I played a Larrivee LV10-E (with a B-Band pickup) through a Presonus tube pre-amp. I also play an Aparicio AA 300 with a Fishman pickup that doesn't require a pre-amp and was very satisfied with the natural tone I got out of the Roland. I also plugged in my Gibson SG (there's a button that toggles between Piezo and magnetic pickups), which lent a lot of warmth to the guitar's tone. Not a real rock amp, obviously, but, with practice, I can probably EQ a brighter sound. There's very satisfying reverb and chorus and a setting that boosts highs for rhythm playing. The second channel (which accomodates XLR as well as phone jacks) is also a great addition. At 22 lbs. this is much easier on my back than Fender Acoustasonic Jr. that it replaces!

I purchased this amp over a year ago to use in church as my monitor and DI for an acoustic electric guitar. I was totally happy with the natural acoustic sound, and the amp had more than enough power to fill the church on the few occasions where the main PA failed. My criticisms may be minor to some, and admittedly I am very picky. I really wish that the line level XLR outputs had a switchable pad to allow for connection to a microphone level input. As it stands I need to use a XLR attenuator or direct box to tame the signal by -20 db. It works fine but is another piece of gear I have to remember to bring. I would have also liked a more secure way to clip the kickstand. Currently there is a nylon clip reminiscent of an old zip tie, not at all consistent with the rest of the package. I do like the shoulder bag but the strap gets cinched at it's attachment point on the bag. Also, the strap cannot be shortened maximally, and there is no top handle on the bag, which means it has to stay on your shoulder or you need to use two hands to carry the bag. Ultimately I decided it was easier to carry the unit by the handle and only use the bag to protect it in the truck. Nevertheless, the true test of this unit is that I decided to keep using it, even after experimenting with all sorts of direct box combinations including a Roland AD-8, CM-30 monitor, and Behringer GI-100 and BBE DI-1000 direct boxes. I use this amp with a Guild Peregrine, a Whirlwind -20 db XLR pad, a Korg CA-30 tuner, and a FS-5L switch to control muting. It's great!

This Amplifier blows my mind, it has a excellent sound. My wife loves the size of it, because my house is not that large, and it does not over take my living room. The amp sounds great at low volume or at high volume. The chorus is great and the antifeedback feature is wonderful. This amp will crank out the volume. You will not be disappointed with it's performance. If you are looking for a acoustic amp to purchase, this is the amplifier for you. This amplifier also has 2 channels and the sound that comes out of the amp is in stereo , instead of mono. The amp also comes with a neat carrying case with accessory pockets to carry other items. The amp is also lightweight, which makes it easy to take to a gig. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and will purchase future ROLAND products.

My first Roland AC-60 was so excellent, a thief decided that they wanted it more than I did however thanx to Allen, at the now defunked Guitar Center Instrument Exchange Program; I'm now reunited with an old friend! I play flute in a dub reggae band. My name is, Dub Flutie. Playing flute, in a heavy, drum and bass reggae band poses a variety of acoustic challenges well met by the AC-60. First and foremost is the AC-60's anti-feedback device. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be turned DOWN below the dynamic pressure volume of the band because the upper sound frequencies I'm playing in (usually higher than 15K) are prone to audio feedback. To correct this, the sound man usually has to turn me down! BUMMER! The AC-60 solves this problem. My anti-feedback button stays on! Add a touch of reverb for sonic depth and I'm in control. I gave the AC-60 features a 4.5 because I can't add reverb and delay simultaneously. As the AC-60 is currently set up, you have to choose either one or the other. Never the two sounds compounded together. This would be the only improvement I would suggest to Roland. In the Dub Zone, less is more so it's not how much I'm playing but the tonal quality of what I'm playing. To be able to texture the tonal quality of my playing, without additional devices would be very attractive. The AC-60 physical size also solves another sound dynamic issue. Because it is small size I can set the unit almost anywhere. The anti-feedback device keeps my condenser mic in check and because it sits on a pedestal, I can adjust the height so that it's physically just above crowds head level and remote from the MAIN speaker system. This position adds spatial depth to the sound coming off the stage. It's like having a remote tweeter somewhere else in the sound wave. This audio distinction gives my improvisations sonic separation for my audience ears to digest. I don't have to turn the sound up loud now because the AC-60 solves the dynamic pressure volume issue by correctly launching the signal reproduction from an ergonomic position. This placement increases clarity and projection simultaneously without distortion or upper register muddiness. Now If I can only figure out how to operate two AC-60's in stereo mode I could give my stage presence a left-to-right dimension which would really send my audience into deep dub! Then I could get a pedal to fade from left to right as I play. That would be the ultimate, but for now I'm just glad to have my old friend back. Big-up Allen!

This is one of the most transparent acoustic amps I have ever used, DEFINITELY the most transparent under a grand. This thing does exactly what it is supposed to - it amplifies your guitar. It doesn't color it, it doesn't put it through a million effects, it just makes it louder. And it does it masterfully. My only complaint - I wish they had a larger version, maybe a 4x10 variety or something for those bigger venues. I play acoustic folk with this amp, as well as solo acoustic projects, and it has never let me down - it's built like a brick. A fantastic amp!

This is an absolutely amazing acoustic amp. It's so versatile! I play in two bands at church, a praise and worship band and a Christian rock band. The reverb, chorus, and delay are just awesome. I will never buy another amp.

This amp is an awsome. It has a clear tone. The only thing that I wish it had more of is bass capability. I always feel that I'm going to blow the speakers if I turn the bass up all the way, or even 4/5 the way. But then again I baby the thing.

I bought this Roland AC-60 this weekend. It's the amp I've been looking for. I recenly had played in a band that plays classic rock, country and blues. I have turned to all acoustic music now The natural tone is great. I love the chorus and reverb and the 2 seperate channels with the independent EQ's. I played the Marshall AS50D, the Fender Acoustasonic Jr and the Roland. The Marshall was close but the Roland had a bit more natural tone and the Roland has the "Midd's" control. The light weight was a plus for me. I would recommend this amp to my friends.

I play acoustic guitar on 3 songs in my hard rock band. I'd been using my acoustics with undersaddle piezo and magnetic pickups and microphone (with a blend control) into a stereo chorus and direct to the board. This works, but not being able to control the sound (and feedback) onstage was not ideal. I began researching what was available and found this little gem. Now, I run my acoustic through the AC-60 with BOTH a balanced cable (for the mic and to power the onboard preamp) and a 1/4" cable for the peizo/magnetic combination. I then run balanced (Low Z) cables for left and right outputs into the snake and direct to the board. Can you say STEREO? The automatic feedback detection is always on as it works perfectly and does not degrade my sound. WOW! I can get any sound I want and then some! Overkill? Remember I play in a hard rock band using a 4x12 (or two) and a 100 watt tube head 99% of the time. As a bonus, the AC-60 is the perfect stage monitor! One caveat: the AC-60 is very sensitive to electrical interference. Stage placement is critical in achieving a buzz free sound when many fans, lights and other equipment are nearby. All said, I (and the band!) am extremely happy! I?m sure our patrons are too!

This is a great "little" amp....little with a big sound. I replaced a very good acoustic amp 5 years ago that I used with a contemporary church Praise Band, and wouldn't think of using anything else. I recently replaced another amp with a 2nd AC-60 for venues outside our church. This amp gives me whatever I need with my Taylor 714. It gives me that pure, natural Taylor acoustic sound when I need it, and blends some unbelievable chorus tones that I have never been able to get with other much more expensive amps. And, though it looks like a coffee shop amp, I have used this amp in 500-1000 seat auditoriums without running through a house system or micing, and it more than covers the areas with the same quality sound. It is definitely the most versatile (and lightest) acoustic amp I have ever owned, and I've never had a single problem with it. Simply put, it's the best. Not the best for the money...the best!

I purchased a Fender Accoustisonic amp and took it back - it made my Taylor sound like a fuzzy-funky electric - not what I was looking for. The Roland gave me just what I needed - it lets my beautiful Taylor sound like... well, a beautiful Taylor, just louder for a gig situation. The amp does have some effects, but I really like the clean un-fussy way it amps the natural sound of my guitar. I also am very happy with the vocal mike channel. I highly recommend this item, and the size of this little thing!! Wow: a big plus for a tired old lady like me - I am soooo over schlepping heavy equipment. The stand (rebate) is also a plus.

I wont duplicate what others are saying about this amp. The other thing I use this amp for is to use it as a karaoke system. I plug in my laptop playing itunes through the connectors at the back, and with a nice mike the AC60 converts to a karaoke machine...and it sounds pretty good

I got mine about 2 weeks ago and I was impressed with its size and the bag that it comes with. It is smaller than a boombox!! Yet the sound that comes out of it is simply divine!! I used to have a Crate (the green one with 30W) and the Roland is far superior. No buzzing, hum, etc. Just pure sound. It is also louder (2x30W vs. 1x30W), lighter and smaller. Feedback is very well controlled (a problem I had with the Crate). The effects, I am still trying to get the hang of them. I did not get the footpedal. I still do not know if I need it. This is a great amp! Worth every penny!!

I recently purchased the AC-60 as a replacement for an Acoustic AG-60, which I purchased at GC when I traded in an old Fender tube amp that I didn't use much anymore because I mainly play an acoustic guitar now. I liked the AG-60 for the most part, except that it was heavy and had a low hum when I cranked up the volume and master controls together. Folks at GC made the exchange easy. They ordered the Roland AC-60 and it arrived in less than a week. Great GC service and I'm ecstatic with my new amp. Incredibly quiet and clean sounding. Love the chorus/delay and reverb effects, though for the kind of music I play (fingerpicking) I don't use the chorus all that much and only a little reverb; still, fun to play around with everything. Volume is also plenty loud enough for most coffee house/church settings. Bottom line is that I have been able to replicate my acoustic sound without much of a problem using both pickups and a mic. I would highly recommend this amp to anyone in the market for an acoustic amp.

I love this Roland AC 60. Finally I am getting the amplified sound out of my Ovation Celebrity that I was looking for. I had an Acoustic A40 and did not like the sound and it was not user friendly. Had a small Fender before that did not give me the true acoustic sound. The Roland AC60 is easy to understand, gives a clear accurate sound, and the effects are pleasing and add a lot without losing the integrity of the guitar's natural music.
