The Reverend Mercalli 4-string electric bass takes its name from Giuseppe Mercalli, a turn-of-the-century scientist who invented the scale to measure earthquake intensity. It's an appropriate choice, because this bass is full of big tones that seem to emanate from deep below. But it's more than that—the Mercalli also has crisp clarity and vintage warmth. A roasted maple neck with a roasted maple fretboard joins the korina body with a six-bolt plate. Loaded with a Thick Brick pickup (bridge) and Split (neck), this earth shaker punches like a pro with plenty of output, but has the organic openness that passive pickups provide. The controls keep it simple: master volume, master tone and blend. There are no heavy tuners here—Hipshot Ultralight are just that. Fashioned from aircraft-grade aluminum, they keep the Mercalli balanced and comfortable to play. The High Mass bridge can be strung string-thru or top-loaded and is made with a massive base plate for maximum sustain.
