The Filter'Tron Electronic Guitar Head was introduced in 1957 at the summer NAMM show in Chicago. Filter'Tron pickups feature dual-coils and are designed to Filter out the elecTronic hum normally associated with single-coil pickups, while adding a warmer tone, and a significant increase in output and sustain.

    I recently bought 2 Gretsch guitars and both had Broadtron pickups. They both sounded great but very similar. I wanted that old punchier sound on one of them so I got the Filtetron for one and it sounds classic.

    I replaced the pickups that came with the Gretsch G5420T. The increase in sound quality is immediately noticeable. To install these pickups on the G5420T it is necessary to purchase new pickup rings and an installation mounting plate.

    Guitar Center is garbage. Took three months to get this to me and it was so poorly packaged. It's obvious why they are failing.

    Gretsch Filter'Tron humbuckers typically cannot be coil-split in the way that modern humbuckers from brands like Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio can.
