Epiphone

Description

The Epiphone Hummingbird EC Studio limited-edition Guitar Center-exclusive acoustic-electric guitar brings the legendary country/rock "Hummingbird" into the 21st century with the Fishman Sonitone preamp and Sonicore pickup system. First introduced in 1960, the square-shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire" and "Under My Thumb."

There are also many classic photographs of Richards using a Hummingbird on sessions for Exile on Main Street, Goat's Head Soup and Sticky Fingers. Today, the Hummingbird is still a go-to acoustic for rockers, including Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock when they need a rhythm guitar with smooth action and superb "woody" tone that's full of character. On its own, the Hummingbird EC Studio limited-edition acoustic-electric can drive an all-acoustic band or be front and center at a picking party with its sweet, balanced tone. Now, with the Fishman Sonitone preamp and Sonicore pickup system, this limited-edition Guitar Center-exclusive Hummingbird EC Studio in a cool Wine Red finish can be plugged in and hold its own on any size stage.

Heck of a good buy !

I just got one of the two in stock at the Jacksonville East store - Steve unboxed it so I could try it out since there were none on display - and it is a stunner ! Just gorgeous in every detail from the color to the gloss finish and the bound front, back and fretboard. The action and string spacing is not quite as nice as on the Seagull Entourage ($300 more) I compared it to, nor is the bass quite as round and full, but the midrange and treble sparkle and sing and the bass is strong enough for a well defined and balanced sound. Also I will probably put on some Elixir strings to reduce the string finger squeak, and adjust the truss rod for slightly lower action. The tone doesn't quite match an all solid wood model like my Yamaha LL16, but the craftsmanship is extremely close and for half the price ! I don't think you will find a better value in a Spruce top guitar. BTW - the pick guard fits perfectly, not the way it looks in the ad. The photos don't do justice to this guitar - you must see it in person !

Maroon Color not bright red as in the Picture

I received this Guitar today . Extremely disappointed in the Color. This is a very dark Burgundy shade of red. I was looking for a vibrant read Acoustic for playing at Church. This is a very small bodied Guitar unless mic up it is a very quiet Guitar. I played this for two hours and the fretboard finish has turned my fingertips Grey. Thats a sign of lousy finish on the neck.

I was amazed how good this guitar is. It was already setup perfectly. I received it on a Thursday and was performing on stage with the instrument on Friday. I was extremely impressed with the sound, the construction and playability.

This guitar has both good sound and good looks. The quality is exceptional and it was setup perfectly right out of the box. I have been playing it for the last year and everyone who sees and hears the sound loves it. Great buy!

This guitar sounds absolutely amazing. It's nice and resonate and warm sounding. The color is definitely darker than pictured on the website (it's more of a deep red wine type of color), but it still is a wonderful color and the pick guard with the hummingbird looks great too. The overall build quality is really solid with no sharp edges or anything like that and it really just plays beautifully. My only complaint would be the action is a little bit higher than I think it should be.

I bought this guitar last December and sent in a review praising it soon after. I commented on the cosmetics more than the sound. I restrung it with Super light strings because it was easier on my arthritic fingers. It sounded a bit too tinny but very comfortable to play. After eight months, I decided to replace them with Gibson phosphor MEDIUM strings hoping for a warmer tone. Wow, what a difference. While it is a bit rougher on the fingers, it was definitely worth it. It now sounds warmer, richer and 100 percent better. Very impressed with this guitar, especially for the price. It is a well made instrument.

Really lucked out. Has battery compartment for the preamp, it's an IBG and it was made in Indonesia.
