D'Angelico is not messing around!

Comments about D'Angelico Premier Gramercy Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

What I like most about my D'Angelico Premier Gramercy is the voicing and the articulation. I was looking around at auditorium and 000 size guitars, because I like the brighter sound. This has that in spades, as well as some nice low-end depth I wasn't expecting. The solid top is SO articulate! I play with a thin pick and a fairly light touch, and I get an almost archtop-style definition and note separation. This is a much nicer instrument than I expected to find in this price range. I plugged it into a friend's high-end acoustic guitar amp and it sounded stunning. D'Angelico is not messing around - they're not just cranking out cookie-cutter guitars that sound like everyone else's. Don't judge it by its price - this is a very nice instrument! (And kind of a looker, too!)

A well made, great sounding, nice looking guitar. Came well set up except for a minor truss rod tweak.

Comments about D'Angelico Premier Gramercy Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Pulled the trigger and ordered this one as a SDOTD, and never regretted about that decision. Right out of the box I swapped the strings and put Earnie Ball medium light set of strings, and it sounded great. Took it to professional lLuthier for general setup, and now this is my favorite axe to play. Sits on the stand next to my bed. Slowly converting into D'Angelico addict.

Comments about D'Angelico Premier Gramercy Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

An immediate eye-catcher with that trademark, 'Deco headstock. The slim neck feels like an electric. Bright & clear, grand-auditorium tone. Sounds a little tight but should open up with age.
Out of the box, the action was uncomfortable high for me. I strongly recommend a pro set-up to make her sing. I had the saddle lowered and the nut needed some filing to lower the strings a touch and free up some binding that was happening. Also, the wood bridge pins fit poorly. I had the bridge holes properly tapered and countersunk. Now we're good to go.

Well worth it? Most definitely. Perhaps overly flashy for some acoustic purists but this ain't no country girl. Fuhgeddaboudit! It's New York City all the way!

Comments about D'Angelico Premier Gramercy Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very nice guitar for the price. I actually purchased several different guitars online and then tested them out at the store and decided this one was the best value. Plus it looks really cool. The only drawback is that the strings that it comes with seems to be louder than most when you slide your fingers. But at the price nothing else sounded as good overall and played as nicely for the price.
