I bought 2 of these to replace the existing speakers in my Sonic PA Speaker Cabs. Very easy to replace and now my speakers sound about a hundred times better than they did when they were brand new!

I play fairly typical older-style stuff, have an old heavily modified Gibson bass, a stock Fender, and a new Takamine acoustic-electric, doing moldy oldies, blues and a little reggae and unplugged rock. I play a fairly punchy, funk style when I can get away with it. I killed a typical 100w no-name speaker in a 1-15" cabinet that I used for the unplugged things mostly, and wanted something with a little more power handling capacity. I had previously encountered Celestions in a wall of sound band, where our lead player had a Marshall 200 W head and 2 Celestion 12"s, and he could easily keep up with us (at the time I was using a strong 100W Acoustic head with an 18" in a double reflex cabinet and an Ampeg SVT cabinet, it would rattle a gymnasium, and just the 18" was reported by reliable witnesses to be audible a mile away, during a beach party). SO I decided to try this thing. It is fantastic for the price. After a 1-day break-in period, during which it sensibly improved, it now actually keeps up with the 18" cabinet - which is three times the size of the enclosure it is in, we call it "the Fridge" - in all but the most demanding settings, and is very much punchier. I would characterize it as a crisp, precise sound, very full and more than meeting my expectations for a speaker in this price range (I was also considering a JBL - but while I love JBLs- my stereo mains are 15" JBLs with Altec horns in big custom cabinets with slate tops - a cabinet with 4 of these things would kick absolute butt on the single JBL for less money, sorry Mr. Lansing). So I can HEARTILY recommend this speaker, it sounds delicious and is a spectacular bargain to boot.
