MOSFET Preamp - High-Voltage, High-Headroom Tube Sound
BUGERA’s revolutionary high-voltage MOSFET preamplifier redefines solid-state bass tone, providing the sound, feel and immense dynamics of an authentic tube amp. Like with real vacuum tubes, their new MOSFET design equally operates at high voltages, providing this preamp with unheard of headroom to honor all of your playing dynamics; from your subtly-nuanced signature riff s and bass lines, to your most powerful, attention-grabbing solos. The VEYRON MOSFET is all about tone, and this highly-versatile and responsive MOSFET preamp provides an abundance of headroom for consistently crystal-clear and faithful sound reproduction – no matter what style of music your gig calls for.
Bugera's studio-grade compressor is based on classic and famous studio equipment from the '70s. This totally transparent and musical compressor design allows your full dynamic range to shine through until your signal reaches the compression threshold, which is indicated by the highly visible status LED. The compressor increases sustain and gently smoothens out signal peaks, which is especially handy when you’re laying down the funk, à la slap and pop – or hammering home your most-aggressive metal lines. The resulting output level lets you unleash powerful and impact-laden bass lines, while still sitting right where you need to be in the mix.
What is known as "parallel compression" or “New York” compression, is a dynamic range compression technique used as a secret weapon in high-end sound recording and mixing. Parallel compression is achieved by mixing an unprocessed “dry”, or lightly compressed, signal with a heavily compressed version of the same signal. Rather than bringing down the highest peaks for the purpose of dynamic gain reduction, it reduces the dynamic range by bringing up the softest sounds, adding audible detail. It is most often used on stereo percussion buses in recording and mixdown, on electric bass, and on vocals in recorded and live concert mixes.
Now this amazing technology is available to you! Bugera has integrated parallel compression in its DYNAMIZER technology to provide you with tone and dynamics that are unheard of to date. By working directly with the amplifier, their DYNAMIZER technology adds incredible detail and powerful, fat punch, so your sound is always impeccable, whether you’re playing super-soft – or at the extreme volume levels that push a dB-meter to the max! DYNAMIZER allows you to take full advantage of every single Watt of your amplifier!

Comments about Bugera BV10001M Veyron MOSFET 2,000W Bass Amplifier Head:
I am quickly becoming a Bugera fan. I have the 6260 guitar combo, and now this bass head. I'll be using this head for everything now though, so I'll sell the 6260. There are people who only want to play through tubes, and I get it. There is a sound you can only get from tubes that has warm overtones and harmonics. Personally, I like using pedals. Tubes add so much color that you tend to lose a lot of what the pedals are supposed to do. If you play tubes for that glassy sound, stick to the tube for color and use pedals for effects. If you play with pedals to color your sound, think about going solid state. Solid state can push sound out in a very flat way. For pedals, that is better. You get the sound of the pedal as it was meant to sound. That is especially important for amp modeling. This bass head showed me just how much that is all true. I'll explain what that means for my guitar after I talk about the bass.
My bass is so clean sounding through this amp. Not much growl when overdriven, but I can do that with pedals if I want to. The head has great compression, and you can dial in a really nice range of sounds. I got warm and ultra-deep lows, and bright highs with a good attack for popping. It gets up really loud too. We all know that the 2000-watt rating is misleading. It seems that must be peak handling. That makes me guess RMS is near 500. It is louder than I will need, and it has a direct out.
Now about my guitar. This head has an Aux in that bypasses the preamp. It reproduces whatever sound you are running into it without changing it. My guitar has a midi pickup that interfaces with a VG-88 modeling pedal. I ran the phones out from the pedal to the Aux in on the bass head. The sound from my guitar was more pure than I have ever heard it without headphones. There was no hum or buzz at all at very high volume. I'm selling my tube amp, and letting my pedal do all the work through this setup. I can model tube amps, and get a great sound with dynamic overtones.
