Multi-Neutron Live Performance

Behringer

collapse expand iconDescription

Powerful and affordable, Neutron's sound is as striking as its design. It’s a paraphonic analog synthesizer with a semi-modular architecture that sits perfectly on your desktop, or can be easily integrated into a Eurorack system. Semi-modular synths offer a lot of flexibility for a wide range of users, including anyone interested in experimenting with modular synthesis. The most noticeable feature on the Neutron is its 56-point patchbay, one of the larger patch systems seen in a semi-modular synth of this class. For the sound, there are two analog oscillators each with five variable waveshapes, a 2-pole multimode filter, two analog ADSR envelopes and a host of additional sound-shaping controls.

Lavish sound, for a modest price

Neutron delivers a surprising amount of power for such an affordable price. It's not trying to emulate or model something else, it is its own instrument and it is capable of producing a wide variety of sounds with a high range of intensity. At its core, Neutron features dual 3340 analog oscillators that blend seamlessly though five different wave types including tone mod, sawtooth, pulse, triangle and sine wave, creating some massive sounds with a ton of weight. The LFO also features five different waveshapes and is capable of going well into audio rates creating some really aggressive tones. There is also a 2-pole Moffatt filter with a style and sound of its own.

Prewired for immediate mayhem

Neutron is wired to be a standalone synthesizer with plenty of parameters for immediate access to designing sounds, but where the power really lives in is in its 56-pint patchbay where you can override the internal wiring and create some complex and interesting signal routing. Neutron's patchbay has 32 inputs and 24 outputs offering plenty of options for routing signal internally or integrating Neutron with other Eurorack compatible modules. Departing from the traditional layout of similar style synths, all of Neutrons patch points are located on the right side of the synth keeping all of your patch cables out of the way of the controls.

The whole pacakge

Neutron features some additional tools to color your sound including a built-in Bucket Brigade style delay, able to produce some interesting textures from short chorusing delays, to longer random effects. If you want to go further, try modulating the delay time by rerouting internal signals or using external Eurorack modules. There's also a built in analog overdrive that can take your sounds over the edge. As for connectivity, the Neutron has 12V DC input with included power supply, USB MIDI connectivity, MIDI IN/THRU, 1/4" headphone output, 1/4" output and a 1/4" input for processing external sounds. All in all, Neutron's sound is unique and the price is unbeatable. So, if you're looking for a new desktop synth or an inexpensive Eurorack module, this could certainly be it.
