These may not be, "The Cool Amps" to own, but as a professional, I don't care whether an amp is cool or not. My 85 pound 350 watt GK combo always sounded good, and has seen me through a couple of decades of use. As an aging musician, just getting me and my upright to the gig is proving hard enough. I picked up this amp and a nice hi fidelity light weight 12" cab, and now I have almost twice the power at less than half the weight. Because I like the sound of my upright, I really tend to set the EQ at a nice flat line on this amp. My bass sounds like my bass only louder, and on upright...that is exactly what you are looking for. At less than $300 on sale and brand new, it was basically like stealing I like it so much, I'm the thinking about getting the 1000 water as my "big gig" amp.

I purchased this last year in May on sale due to the fact that I'm tired of lugging 80 lb heads around. Our band hasn't started practicing yet so this has spent its entire life on my desk. I used it a handful to times into an interface and then recently into a tiny cab I built. A few weeks ago the volume knob started giving me trouble between 0 and 1 with lots of dropout and scratching. At almost the same time the pad button/clip light started acting funny, the light went on and off opposite of when it was supposed to and the pad was activated opposite of how it should be. Fortunately this has a three year manufacturer warranty but I have doubts on long term reliability if it's been less than a year and it literally has never left my house or been cranked up. I've been playing 25 years and also build/service effects and having issues like this with virtually no use is a bad sign. Therefore, I can't recommend to a friend due to the reliability issue I've dealt with.

Other than that, the sound quality is good and I like the overdrive features- very few heads offer a clean blend. The EQ works well as does the effects loop, direct out, etc. I wish the blue LEDs weren't so bright, they're darn near blinding.

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

This is my second B600HD amp. The first one is sitting on top of my Acoustic stack, a 410 cab and a 115 neo cab. I got a second one to hook up my MarkBass speakers when I play at church. I do have a MarkBass 121P combo, but I like to switch things around just like I do with my basses. Some people think the Acoustic brand is cheaply made, and I really can't argue about the relatively low cost of their wares. The fact is, Acoustic gear has never given me a problem, and I mean never.

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

I purchased the head and cabinets to update my GK700 15 inch cabinet that weighs 90 pounds. The combination of head plus two separate cabs total under 90 pounds. IT pushes the BN12 or BN15 very efficiently. It pushes both cabs combined very effectively. I also have Ashdown 210 and an Acoustic B410 MKII and older folded W 18 powered cab.
The head is very clean and transparent, yet distinctly Acoustic in sound. Extremely versatile due to the graphic eq. I use the other effects sparingly to keep my sound under control. I prefer to have my different basses give my tone its color.
I have had an Acoustic head or cab in my stage line since the 80's. They last and sound good. Often a new head or cab comes along to replace them, but they move to practice status or small gig usage. They get used with Ampeg, Sunn or GK combinations, depending on the need. I keep my gear available to add variety to my sound palette. Bass can get hard on the ears and the different combos can break up the monotony. Why think that only guitarists need to change amps, cabs, pedals or guitars to be able to sound good. A good Bassist needs to be just as versatile. I have plenty of toys too and play a variety of styles and genre.

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

I keep this amp at home and use it in my studio for practice, writing and recording, and it delivers a very clean tone for me. I now own 24 basses, some of which I built or modified (5-to-10-string, for example). I play this amp head through an Acoustic 410 speaker cab and an Acoustic neo 115 cab. Actually, I had a B300H for a while, which replaced a B200H, so I've upgraded twice. This one fills the speakers more fully and more cleanly than I expected. I have four basses that go down to low F#. One of those even goes down to a low C#. The amp has ample power to push those sub-bass notes through the system without muddling it up. So far, I haven't tried anything this bass head can't handle. You can call me very satisfied with it. Oh, did I mention that this amp head that doubles the power of the one it replaced also weighs only about half as much?

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

I bought this because it was on sale at a great price. Was not expecting it to sound this good, esp after reading a review somewhere that said it was a really "dry-sounding" amp. I don't find that at all. Of all the amps I have owned -- Aguilar Tone Hammer, Mark Bass Big Bang, Hartke 5500, Hartke TA600, Mark Bass Little Tube, and Fender Rumble -- this one has to best tone to me. When the amp was backordered I almost canceled the order but am really glad I didn't. The only amp I have that sounds better is a Hartke LH1000, which is a Class A tube amp and very very heavy. The Acoustic is a fantastic amp!

Great EQ possibilities, lots of tone-shaping options. The low end is much clearer than the Aguilar Tone Hammer, which tends to distort at low frequencies. More than anything, I just love the sound of this amp. Kind of odd that they are not more popular

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

This is my second Acoustic Amp head. I brought it for my church rig. I was so please with my 1000 watt version, I had to get another one. The 600watt is more than enough for church. (You don't want to blast out the old ladies :-) !! The 600 watt version has the headphone jack, and line in jack (both 1/8th inch) great for rehearsing. I wish the bigger version had this, but I guess you don't need that when its about pure power. That blue light is very bright and can be blinding if you look directly into it. This unit runs very quitely compared to most solid state units, a plus for studio and performance venues.

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

This is truly a great amp. I only can come up with one complaint. The LED brightness may sound like a petty thing but it really hampers my ability to adjust settings in a low light room. Its blinding affect is so pronounced that I really can't see well enough to adjust the settings. It is a serious design flaw that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. I have put dark blue fingernail polish on the individual lights to reduce the glare and it helps some. The push buttons however have the light so far back inside that I can't get to them so they are still too bright. The actual lettering for the ACOUSTIC logo is also too bright.

Really surprised by the deep end and tonal variations. More power than you'll ever need. Had many amps over the years, been gigging for about 30 years small to large venues, and this amp could've handled all of them.

Electric ( 66 Fender Jazz) and upright basses both sound great with this amp no matter if it's a Bose speaker or anything I've plugged it into. Headroom to die for ( loud drummers no longer an issue) and tone shaping controls that are easy, fast and consistent. And I've been using a Walter Woods 1200 w handmade amp for the past 15 years which was the best amp made. It blew out and is not repairable. Used acoustic in the 70s and 80s and although this one is probably made in China , it amazes me. Thanks whoever engineered this amp and pushed to have so many needed bells and whistles. First gig I never turned on the graphic EQ and still was amazed( bought it in the way to a gig and never looked at the manual so did t know there was a button) suggestion is to make the Ww leds adjustable as they are too bright and specular .

I have owned all the Uber expensive bass gear (EBS 650, Ampeg SVT II LImited Edition, Ashdown, Genz Benz, Fender Bassman and Warwick bass heads). I was a Class D hater until I got this head on a steal of a closeout, less than $300 with tax. I cannot believe how great it sounds. My 5 string Ibanez 1405 has FINALLY met its match! This thing weighs nothing and sounds unbelievable! It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Tone snobs can save hundreds over buying the Aguilar or Bergantino Class D heads. This is it!

Comments about Acoustic B600HD 600W Bass Amp Head:

Acoustic bass amps have always been "hidden gems" My 1st bass amp was a 200 watt acoustic head . it had great tone and seemed to be more powerful than the rated 200 watts. Through the last few years I transitioned to more powerful amps, currently playing a tc electronics 500 watt bass amp coupled with...oddly enough... an acoustic b115 mkll cabinet and a sealed twin ten bass cab. Side note - Jaco played Acoustic amps and cabs for years.... Anyways, I love this amp ! lightweight! plenty of power! great controls! and I actually scored this for less than 35 cents per watt brand new from guitar center. you do the math as they dont allow prices to be posted here. they actually took a loss and honored the discounted price! guitar center rocks!
