Perfect for the Purpose
I just completed a new music room and fed all the microphone chords through the ceiling. I attached a small length of pipe to the studs and then attached the On-Stage Stands MSA-8020 Boom Stands hanging down. Perfect solution....no wires to trip over and when practice is done the just fold up to the ceiling and out of the way! Great Product!!!!

I use this for amateur home music recording. It is easy to set up, small and portable, stable, and meets my needs.
Great idea, great product!

This is a great way to save space, and to position other mics for added reinforcement and recording. You can use it as an additional mic for guitar while singing through the vocal mic, or you can use it as an additional mic for stereo or to A/B in the studio. Many possibilities. I own 4 of these for uses with drums, guitars!
Excellent for small condenser application on guitars!

Playing in bars, the stage or area to set up are getting smaller and smaller. On stage I have my keyboard stand, stand for laptop, boom mike and stand for personal monitor. I purchased this to see if it would clamp onto my laptop stand and eliminate the boom mike...BAZINGA!!! Worked perfect... will give it a final check at the next gig...

Can this clamp on to something bigger than another mic stand such as a 2x4 ceiling stud?
something that size probably won't work, especially if it's square rather than rounded. You could maybe get a rounded bar a bit larger than a mic stand, but not by much.
