Musician's Gear

collapse expand iconDescription

This stand features a broad, flat steel deck that will accommodate most common books and scores. It is fairly lightweight, and collapses in the shaft and at the legs for easy transport. The MST50 has a black, anodized exterior that doesn't react under stage lighting. It is a rugged, reliable stand, reasonably priced and smartly designed. This item is a set of two MTS50 stands.

Home studio use. One for drums, the other for keyboard. The tray is solid, as are the legs & post. The wing nuts are plastic and feel like they might break over time if used in a commercial setting or for gigs, but seem like they will be fine in a home studio with infrequent movement. The tray has enough space for 2x 8.5x11 sheets of paper, and strong enough to hold up a tablet. I set one up for the drums and everything looked good. When setting up for my keyboard, I noticed the stand was not level with my (level) keyboard. I couldn't fix it with the wing nuts or any other adjustments, so I checked the stand with a level & measuring tape. The issue is with the tray itself. The rivets on the left start at 4.5", but on the right they start at 4.75" (see photos). That means that this stand will never be level unless you stuff something under one of the feet. I confirmed that both stands are like this, so it must be a manufacture defect that they decided not to fix. I got these on sale, so they are fine for my needs at that price point. Had I paid full price or planned to move them around a lot, I would have returned the stands. My recommendation is a qualified yes (if planned for home use, get them on sale, and don't mind stuffing something under it to level the stand).
