Comments about Mitchell D120BK Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great guitar for a beginner to intermediate player who doesn't have a lot to spend. Especially good for a beginner since the neck on this guitar is slim. and the fretting is easy. I would compare the neck to a 70s Alvarez 5043 I own...very similar. It is really easy on the fingers and a great guitar for learning bar chords. The sound is what you would expect from a dreadnought...rich and full. The only negative are the tuning keys which are geared higher than on more expensive guitars. So fine tuning is not quite as easy. But for the money, this guitar gets a 5.

Comments about Mitchell D120BK Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I tried different acoustic guitar ranged between the prices of 100$ and 600$ a couple of Martins, Taylors, Yamahas, Ibanez, Epiphones, Gibsons, Fenders etc. I did not notice a lot of difference except for the price. Since I do not make a living out of songwriting, why to spend 600$ if I can get almost the same for 500$ less.?

About Me Experienced

Cons

  • Tuners OK, not great.

Best Uses

Comments about Mitchell D120BK Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased two of these as gifts for granddaughters. I know acoustic guitars and these are worth
every penny. You almost never see edge of body binding or abalone rosettes at this price. I have replaced the original strings with D'Addario's for a fuller sound. And the sound is rich for this price level.
The first one I picked in the store up was amazing and set up perfectly. The second one (in a new box yet) needed a neck truss rod twist (action was high) but it also all fell into place. You cannot feel the fret edges at all unlike most guitars at this level. Interior construction (I looked) is a bit sloppy but appears solid. There are splinters left over on the inside bridge backing plate. And the thin backing plate itself doesn't look like it will stand the test of time. But that is my only complaint. Need a first guitar? Go and play one of these.
