The 12-string Martin X Series D12X1AE-L Dreadnought Left-Handed 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar features Martin’s famous D-14 platform, dreadnought body design. The dreadnought was crafted to produce a powerful, rich sound that is perfect for the singer songwriter, as well as the professional touring and studio musician.
Pairing the Sitka spruce top with the mahogany-pattern HPL back and sides, the X Series D12X1AE-L Dreadnought Left-Handed 12-String guitar has a powerful, rich tone, with all the sustain you have come to expect from a Martin guitar. The mortise-and-tenon neck joint ensures solid construction of the guitar, with optimal resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.
The guitar's laminate birch neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.
The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4 in. scale, 1-7/8 in. nut width, and 16 in. radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

Comments about Martin X Series D12X1AE-L Dreadnought Left-Handed 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
great value for the price. good construction -- better than I'd expect, and the laminated neck is a plus given the high tension of the 12 string arrangement. Good balance for playing with the strap connections at the end pin and on the neck heel; don't often find that with most acoustic guitars these days. The truss rod needed an adjustment given a bow in the neck resulting with a minor fret buzz (different sized strings alongside each other makes this part of the guitar being what it is), and the rod responded well to a couple quarter turns. Low action across the neck, and reasonable sustain in pure acoustic mode. Exchanged the D'Addario strings for Elixers for better sound delivery. The instrument really shines when hooked up to an acoustic amp. Martin headstock gets pretty cramped with 12 tuners and no compensating width increase for that number of machines and the clustering of strings (unlike D'Angelico 12s). The enclosed electronics are good and handle all ranges well. It's a pleasure to have the battery access outside on the lower bout for quick changes, and the 1/4 inch jack is not threaded through the end pin but below it adjacent to the battery door. Much better configuration than other Martin acoustics with the battery inside the sound hole and the jack through the end pin. I'd recommend this guitar as an outstanding price point for the value and quality.
