An Amazing Guitar

By Jordy

from Fl

Comments about Martin Road Series Custom DCRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for two weeks, played it in six different gigs and it sounds amazing. The neck is nice and thin and the fret board is smoother than any I've ever played. When I purchased it from the Guitar Center I sampled about twenty different guitars, spent an hour and a half in the acoustic guitar section and kept coming back to this one because the balanced sound from base to treble was amazing. This one is a winner for sure. It's got solid top, back and sides, right no veneer junk on this one.

Comments about Martin Road Series Custom DCRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am a professional musician but, admittedly, mediocre guitarist. I played Custom Martins, Taylors, Seagulls, Breedloves, and I kept coming back to this guitar for it's full bodied sound, even tone and dynamic versatility throughout the range and the fretboard. The only guitars that I found which could hold up to the sound quality of this guitar started at over $2,500. I got this for well under $1,000 and couldn't be happier. As I admitted upfront, I'm not a guitarist by nature, but I have performed on stage with the major orchestras, conductors, and performers and have both an undergraduate and masters in music. I love all types of music, but I am picky when it comes to sound quality. So when I say that the other guitars within $1,500 couldn't hold a candle to this one, I REALLY mean it. But hey, is there anything more subjective than musical preference. It probably won't hold it's value like an American made Martin, but if you're buying a guitar for the sound and enjoyment, and your like me and love every guitar you own, do yourself a favor and check one of these out.

Comments about Martin Road Series Custom DCRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own several Martin's, from a little Martin, X series, and Performing artist series, D28. So, I am a little biased for Martin. My college age son wanted a new guitar for Christmas. I got on Guitar Center's website and found this one one sale. Ordered it without playing it first and had it delivered to the nearest Tucson store. This is something I have never done before (ordered without playing). I went in and played it before taking it home around Thanksgiving. It sounds great, so I take it home. When I get home where it's quiet and can really play it, I am amazed. For just less than $900 dollars, this guitar is a real treat. I continued to play it until my son came home for Christmas. I was so torn to give it to him and not be able to play it, I ordered another. For $900 this out plays most guitars in the 1000-2000 dollar range. Great tone. Amazing sustain. Easy playability. I have an OM Performing Artist Rosewood at twice the price, and this one rivals it. Not a D28, but for under $900 with hard case, it can't be beat.

This is my 4th Martin. I keep buying them because I know I'll get a great guitar. The neck on these models is amazing. Feels like a much more expensive neck. The sound from this is all Martin...very full with a great bottom end. The fit and finish is excellent...this is very well made. Stays in tune very well. The volume and tone controls are very consistent. Comes with a very beautiful and sturdy case. Nothing in this price range can compare. Bought it at Guitar Center in Pittsburgh. Tony and Nate were very helpful. They always treat you fairly and with respect. You won't regret buying this guitar. I always recommend buying a Martin, but I double recommend this one!

Played when younger then put it down for decades as I raised a family...Now picking it back up. My old guitar had a really high action, made playing a chore.

This Martin sounds great, plays with a graceful ease...

Gorgeous woods, perfect neck, sounds you dream of... What can else can I say? Play it. I prefered it over $2000+ models of which I can easily afford. I don't really prefer the pick protetor; a personal thing.

Bought an X series last week and turned out it had a twisted neck. I took it back and played about 10 Taylor's and martins that were all prices and makes. I ended up getting this one and so far love it. I will say it is acclimating to my studio currently so my play time with it is based on in store but that by itself was amazing as this played better than most 3,000 dollar Taylor's and sounded better than the 2500 dollar Martin d15 next to it. Not always do you have to break the bank to get great tone. The luthier checked it out and said the neck was flawless. I was nervous due to the previous purchase that week and was worried I would run into those kind of issues if I didn't spend a ton but this shows it is not the case. Great sound, great tone and volume!

I play small to medium sized venues and festivals as a solo acoustic act and treated myself to this Martin last Fall. I've played very good Ibenez and Epiphone acoustic-electric guitars on stage in the past, but this Martin is obviously better with a richer sound. The confirmation of this was getting set up for a gig, along with two other acts, the sound guys had just set up another act and had me plug into their DI and they were looking at their sound quality software when I played a few chords. They all stopped, looked up and said "Wow! That is perfect!" When they stepped closer, one sound guy said, "Of course, it's a Martin!"

This guitar plays and sounds so nice. I'm playing it through a Boss GT-8 into a small board with Yamaha HS-8s. The pickup with this combination produces really beautiful musical sounds. Unplugged it's awesome as well. I've had other acoustics that were nice but this easily tops them. When I was testing the Martin's out at the local Guitar Center, this particular one was just set up so well and sounded nicer. One thing that isn't perfect is that the dreadnought shape of this guitar doesn't align to my lap. I play it shifted to the left when sitting. It doesn't stop me from wanting to play it though. The richlite finger board is rock hard yet frictionless. When I use a capo, it stays right in tune. I read somewhere that the Road Series is plex'd. That may be why this is such a nice guitar.

Very nice deep, rich tone. I would not expect less from a Martin. Buying on line, you get what they send. I was dealing with a time line and didn't have time to drive 100 plus miles and pick one out nor look over "used" stock. The face grain is not what I would have selected. It is straight and close together but lacks conformity. I would however, buy it again.

I'm returning to playing guitar after 15 years away, and I'm taking lessons for the first time (I was self-taught before). I have always loved the craftsmanship, tone and quality of Martin guitars, but I could not afford to own one when I was younger. This guitar is amazing value for the price. It's solid wood throughout, has a beautifully low action that makes playing close to effortless, it has that authentic and unmistakable Martin sound (crisp, well articulated and evenly balanced across bass and treble), and it sounds great as an acoustic or played through an amp. The Guitar Center price made this a real bargain.
