Love it

Comments about Martin OMC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a new guitar, went to guitar center to try out a bunch of guitars in the 1200-->1700 range. and i fell in love with this guitar. i love the shape and feel of it nice and cozy sitting in my lap and looks beautiful. the sound is amazing as well, its not too bright like a lot of taylors and other om's and isn't too warm sounding, has a nice sound of the mids with a strong but not overpowering bass and still allows the treble to come through clearly. great picking instrument and can strum well on it as well. electronics on it are simple to use when adjusting reverb and anti-feedback control, tuner works and LCD screen great and you don't need it plugged in. when not plugged in, it still produces a strong sound.

Pretty little thing.

Comments about Martin OMC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Today I went to Guitar Center just to try out their whole line up of higher end guitars. I went inside expecting just to play Martins, however I did compare these guitars to Taylors and Gibsons as well. First of all: this guitar like every other OM or 000 model from Martin is made for finger picking. You can just tell from the speed and width of the necks and the clarity of individual notes. However, I'm also the type of person that enjoys a full sonorous sound with rich, full overtones. The first guitar I picked up today was the 000C model of the "Gloss Top" family. However, I was surprised in how it lacked in presence and that low-end richness that Martins are famous for. After playing with other OM and 000 styles (I did try some Dreadnoughts, but I do prefer the the comfort and sound of OMs over the D series), I found the OM1. I won't go to far into the quality of this instrument, but needless to say it sounded wonderful, despite the low price tag. Then I found this instrument. It was incredibly beautiful and very different. The back is a mix of both East Indian Rosewood and Ovangkol (it's as much aesthetically pleasing as it is to the ear). The guitar has bindings (if you are into that look) and just looks clean. The sound was ten times better than the OM1 and felt and looked comfortable. Best of all, it boasted Martin-class sound. The only thing that could make it better would be to replace the Micarta Bridge and Fretboard with ebony. So what are you waiting for? Go pick one up now!

Amazing Sound

Comments about Martin OMC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went to guitar center determined to fall in love with a guitar. After trying out different brands such as Takamines, Fenders, Taylors, I decided to pick up this Martin. Once I started playing it I just could not pick up any other guitar I knew this was the one. An amazing sound which you can here every string perfectly and it has a very pretty design. All I can say is this guitar is amazing.

Quality Control Issues at Martin

By David Canady

from Citrus Heights

Comments about Martin OMC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

GC only had the display so I had to have one shipped to me. The neck was so bad on the first one I received the luthier wouldn?t touch it. The second was better, but after looking it over and discussing what I expected from the action, we (the luthier and I) elected to pass on the second guitar as well. He called it a whale tail. It humped at the 14th fret. The neck on the third guitar was perfect and we were able to get a very nice setup. One odd thing about Martin is they setup guitars with the strings about ?? off the neck at the 12, almost unplayable. I don?t know if this is only with the OM or with all Martin guitars. Just know you will need to have your guitar worked on before really enjoying it. The wood is gorgeous. The tone is powerful and balanced. Note, the neck is wider than on most steal string guitars. It really is designed for finger picking. The electronics are easy to use and have way more options than almost any other acoustic electric I?ve owned or used. The Roland system does eat batteries. I only get 2 gigs out of a set but I?m happy to put up with that for what it offers. You can save up to 3 EQ settings. I have one for flat picking, one for finger picking, and one with the low end rolled off a little for when I play hard. It also offers reverb. FYI, it took 3 e-mails to Martin before they responded. I think it was also because I cc?d their marketing department as well. I am very unimpressed with Martin?s quality control and their customer service. So, if you get a good one, you are going to love this guitar but be prepared to have to deal with poor quality control from Martin. The 3 stars are for Martin, not the guitar. My 3rd guitar is a 5.
