I have played 12-strings before but this HD12-28 is simply amazing. I also have a Martin HD-28 6 string but after buying the 12 string I absolutely love playing 12 string. The tone, balance, and playability is excellent. And the action is not too high making it a joy to play.

This has to be one of the best 12-string guitars ever. It has perfect and comfortable action all the way down the fretboard. It's great for strumming, rings like a bell. Finger-picking allows for incredible tonal variation introduced by the 4 octave strings. Just plain beautiful construction - a work of art.

First things first. I have loved the sound of a 12-string since The Byrds first popped up on my transistor radio. So, as you may guess, I'm an older player, now with some dexterity issues. I have an older Ovation, a Taylor electric and my first 12-string, a 1965 Gibson B25-12. The Ovation and Taylor are easy to play, the Taylor, remarkably so. But I always wanted a US made Martin. So, my wife decided to gift me with the HD12-28 for a special anniversary. Finding one that was readily available was a bit of a task. However, GC was able to deliver. I ordered online and picked it up at a GC store. After a few days, I decided to bring it back to see if its playability could be improved - without impacting its sound, which is exquisite. I went back to the GC store where I had picked it up. Matt, a nice, knowledgeable GC tech, set it up and did a very good job. Still more difficult to play than the Taylor, but close in playability to the Ovation. And the sound literally will "blow you away." Making a hacker like me sound almost like a musician. I am overjoyed with this purchase.

  • Great expectations. Not disappointed.

I have wanted a Martin HD 28 for some time. When I saw the 12 string version I had to get. Never had a 12 string of my own. Plays well, The quality of the guitar and the case is awesome. I use it for home and church.
